I chose Later but I still experienced crashing. Just tried the hosts file fix and hopefully that will prevent this issue.
Nope, just crashed again.
Update: Tried doing the hosts file fix again. This time checked the ping and it worked like people had indicated.
Hopefully this should work, crossing fingers.

I'm pretty clueless about the blobs - and just got Tinyumbrella and ran it, and it seems that I still was able to get the 4.2.1 blobs at ~ 9PM EST in the US.....am misinterpretting the process, or are these still being signed?? (looks like Tiny umbrella created .shsh files ending in:
appletv2,1-4.2.1.shsh appletv2,1-4.2.shsh and a number of 4.3 files) Thanks for the clarification - I just want to know I have a safety net.... |

I just ran tinyumbrella and they are still available in Sweden. It says 4.1 was to late though...
15 minutes later I got the first update popup from Apple. Turned it down and disabled updates in Nito TV. /Selepo |

please guys, lets not turn this thread into TinyUmbrella support thread, ask on TU site or use off topic subforum
Always read the XBMC_Online_Manual,Frequently_Asked_Questions and search the forum before posting. For troubleshooting and bug reporting use -> Log_file. |

Yes, the hosts file should redirect so the update no longer pings the aTV.
Go to /etc/hosts file and you will have to change that file. The following is from another thread: BTW, According to the thread linked above from Eric_S, the hosts file should end out something like this instead: (Extra lines provided by amet) Code: ## # Host Database # # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface # when the system is booting. Do not change this entry. ## 127.0.0.1 localhost 255.255.255.255 broadcasthost ::1 localhost fe80::1%lo0 localhost 127.0.0.1 appldnld.apple.com 127.0.0.1 mesu.apple.com 127.0.0.1 appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net[PRESS ENTER HERE] [LEAVE THIS LINE EMPTY | DELETE LINE] Hope this works |

Fire up TU, click on Start TSS Server, open iTunes, hold SHIFT and click on Restore, choose 4.2.1 firmware, download at the bottom, voila! http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ <-- AppleTV 4.2.1 firmware Note that the firmware is a .zip file rename it to .ipsw and iTunes should accept it Regards, |
