As far as I know, you can assign unused ram for being permanent or non-permanent.
If you choose permanent, then you're saved data will be still there, even if you restart your machine.
In that way you can use the unused space as a ramdisk with an impressive speed.
To be honest, I didn't tried it yet, because I am currently very happy with my hdd-response-time (wd blue-series).
It would be nice, if someone else who already checked that tool, could give some feedback.
Cheers

i own the Gigabyte GA-E350N-USB3 i also built a Asrock 880GMH-LE with a AMD Athlon II 3.2ghz at the same time as i was building one for a friend and i had considered opting for the Asrock board as it had a beefier CPU with 3.2 ghz vs the Gigabyte 1.6ghz Dual-Core but after comparing noise, heat generation and power consumption plus the benifit of having Radeon HD6310 graphics and directx 11 onboard vs Radeon 4300 series with Direct 10.1 plus the added noise, heat and power in using the larger board with larger cpu
the Gigabyte GA-E350N-USB3 made more sense to me as for the noise can't hear any noise except when playing a dvd off a disc in the dvd burner the cpu temps hit around 60 celcius at max which seems like a lot but then remember only a 40mm fan on top plus being in a entertainment cabinet and with no case fans (i plan to buy some fans soon thought just for piece of mind) but i think anything under 90 celcius is safe anyways cpu usage when playing videos is around between 30 and 55% haven't test on a proper blu-ray yet as i don't own any but i wouldn't expect to see much difference i am running windows 7 ultimate x64 on it and XBMC (of course ) i usually put the machine into sleep mode when not using as in bios you can set it to use only 1 watt draw in sleep mode which is basically off as it would take 1000 hours to use 1 kwhowever when starting up it takes about as long as a regular pc without a ssd to boot up by the time i have turned on my tv and switched to the hdmi channel it is usually at the login screen overall i am happy with it the only thing i didn't like is when scanning a large folder if you try to exit xbmc before that folder has finished scanning the screen freezes for a bit as it tries to process that action whilst still scanning this is most probably the result of the small cpu power but not a major issue as you only have to scan a new folder rarely and could always leave the folder to finish scanning and come back in a couple of minutes if you really needed to exit xbmc which there is not many reason you would need to as it is a HTPC also noticed that the ram speed is only 1066mhz i bought 1333mhz ram anyways and simply overclocked it to suit 1333mhz in the bios it is very easy to do and clearly labeled

@wicky
As of yesterday I had a zacate htpc build - but it decided to stop booting.. Anyway - ive got my money refunded and im looking for a "stronger" build - like your i3 setup. One of the things I wasnt that fond of, was that the zacate could be alittle sluggish while using the menus (im using the neon skin aswell) - my question is - is the i3 setup capable of handling this without any stutter - ie scrolling through my movie libary while a movie is being played in the background? Kind regards Christian |

Thats just it, im still deciding which of these to pick - since I dont want any "slugginesh" in the menus - ive read multiple test and reviews all telling me that the i3 2100t is about 10% slower than the i3- 2100 , but I cant translate that into performance in xbmc menus and such. So thats why I asked wicky for some first hand experiences ![]() The reason im having doubts is because, I really dont wanna change my current picu-psu (90 watt) - which im fairly certain I have to if I go with the 2100. |

i have a e350 with a 6310. Apart from hardware acceleration (and turning off of skin tone correction and vibrant colours in catalys IMO) what are the best settings for this chip set to get HD picture from mkv containers.

Can u show me how to take it off, so I can put some oil into it? Does ur system get hot when running without fan? My system when running with fan gets quite high temperature, about 61°C n CPU fan speed is about 4900 rpm. |

) i usually put the machine into sleep mode when not using as in bios you can set it to use only 1 watt draw in sleep mode which is basically off as it would take 1000 hours to use 1 kw
