Is it true that IPTV is just tv content streamed as multicast? That i can view iptv content with vlc. to use iptv with xbmc in a single box, i need a linux based system with nvidia 3d card(or ati), pvr application (either HTS Tvheadend, VDR, MythTV or MediaPortal).

Yeah, IPTV is a multicast according to this http://blog.ektel.com.np/2012/07/how-does-iptv-work, TV is broadcasting, broadcasting is multicasting...
