To use streams from directon.tv (including CNN USA) you can download and run rtmpgw.exe on your local XBMC installation (rtmpgw.exe is included with the rtmpdump package at http://rtmpdump.mplayerhq.hu). All you need to do is run rtmpgw.exe before launching XBMC.
You can then create standard .strm files within a XBMC video source folder (or entries to the XML config file for the plugin referenced in this thread) that refer to the rtmpgw.exe gateway. Below are some working .strm files that do this:
