Hi,
I don't know if something similar exists on other providers, but sky germany offers some channels with so called "Unterkanäle". I don't know the word in english, but in MediaPortal it's calles linked channels.
For example Sky Sport:
On the interface you switch through different Views on Formel 1.
Or at "Bundesliga" you can choose the football match you'd like to watch.
I hope you understood what I mean ;D
My question is: Will XBMC support something like this?
Will XBMC support "Linked Channels"?

not going to support it at this time (as there are a million things to do before implementing this), but please add a feature request for this on trac.

I got this question for supporting subchannels already earlier. As far as I know, we don't have them here in the Netherlands, so its difficult to test
![]() For MediaPortal I don't know how to retrieve them, otherwise it would be easy to add them as separate channels (for now). Developer of the MediaPortal PVR addon and the Argus-TV PVR-addon. Unofficial XBMC Windows builds with PVR (Dharma, Eden and Frodo). http://www.scintilla.utwente.nl/~marcelg/xbmc |

I think what the op was referring to is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MHEG-5 or whatever similar tech is used in your neck of the woods. While you can add the channels separately there other mosaic style channels which have multiple videos for example T7 STRM-0 which is BBC news multiscreen MHEG lets you choose which video element to watch and selects the correct audio stream usually with additional text information kinda like a poor mans web.
Digital text support would be a useful feature to have one day in the future though. |

This pretty much sums it all up. You can usually just tune the extra channels manually. I just have the "interactive"/"linked channels"/"red button channels" at the bottom of my channel list. |
