So I just discovered SUSEstudio and thought this might be a good idea. Like most of the linux peoples here I use ubuntu and swear to it. I heared about openSUSE 11.4 being released so I decided to check it out.
The best I can describe SUSEstudio is like a linux online kitchen (like those for Android phones). You can completely customize your OS and its so easy that anyone can do it. Novices and pick options and do simple things while experts can dive deep and change everything if they want.
Sure linux guys have been doing this forever, but SUSEstudio can share your builds. So XBMC can release their LIVECDs/ Linux builds there and people can download them in many different formats (iso, raw, amazon EC2, ..etc) and they can 'clone' it so they can make their own derivative of it. Add mythTV, load it with emulators / games, whatever and then share it again, or just download it.
I don't think there are any SUSE repos for XBMC but I'll look at it over the next few days and see how this works, if it would even be an option. I will make one for XBMC in the coming days and post it here if not one more official decides to do it. They do have a minimalOS config to work off of so it shouldn't be hard to do it.
Check it out, its pretty cool. I just wanted to let you guys know about it if you didn't, now to cook some nix.
Don't want to post a link because I don't know about the policy, but its pretty easy to find.
EDIT: just noticed it is SUSEstudio ...
