AC3 decoding problem
#1
Hi!

When ever I'm trying to watch a move with AC3 sound I just get a sparkling/skratchy sound.

It doesn't matter if I try to get the sound over optical or HDMI. And changing the number of speakers in the setup doesn't help either.

The receiver interprets the signal as Dolby Pro Logic II instead of Dolby digital.
The info in VLC says
Sound codec: a52
The file is played from my nas over smb. Works fine on my laptop.

Im on an Apple TV2 4.2.1 (4.1.1)
Installed xbmc yesterday with apt get by using this guide:

Today I installed this one: http://hadm.net/~keith/xbmc_atv2/latest_atv2.deb 01-Apr-2011 18:33 38M
To see if it would fix the problem, but it didn't.

In the menu I have selected that my receiver can handle both Dolby digital and DTS, optical output and a 5.1 setup.

Any ideas on how to get the ac3 sound to work?

Did you figure this out? I'm having the same issue on an older Windows 7 laptop. The audio plays fine for me but is only Pro Logic coming from the laptop.
