thx Alan!

I prefer the older 10.0 Versions of xbmc, they run much more stable for me.

Thats why i asked for how to patch these older Dharma release

Sorry i just have no time nowadays. I think you can patch older releases easy, with manually looking for the corresponding lines and change - insert the things we have in the new patch. Just use a text editor, with no problem. Sorry but i don't have time for this now.

built up a running AMD Fusion HTPC with:

- Ubuntu Natty Narwhal (11.04) x64
- XBMC PVR Developing branch
- vaapi enabled (latest packages on http://www.splitted-desktop.com/~gbeauchesne/ )
- latest ATI Driver 11.4 (important, cause otherwise i got problems with Unity Desktop and enabling vaapi)

I can watch 1080p videos without problems

Where did you get the xbmc PVR developing branch from? and have you noticed any glitching when watching certain 1080p movies?

... btw would it be possible to make a new custom live cd for fusion boards with what you have setup?

What CPU usage you have, when watching 1080p videos? I'm thinking of buyin Asus E35M1-I Deluxe, to replace my mATX HTPC.

Do you have VDR installed? What kind of CPU usage you have on watching TV?

Unfortunatly i'm having now problems with vaapi and xbmc.
XBMC crashes everytime when i start playing a video with vaapi enabled.
vainfo says all is working fine...

What i can remember of the CPU Usage:

Playing 1080p (h.264) videos = ~ 15 - 22 %
Playing TV with the PVR implementation of XBMC will be much higher cause vaapi with xvba (ati) can only accelerate h.264 codecs and due to that normal TV playback (SD Resolution) will only be accelerated over the CPU.
But this isn't a problem cause the CPU is fast enough for it.
HD TV should also be encoded with h.264 (don't know if there is used another codec) and this also shouldn't be a problem.

yeaah Smile

got my Vaapi and XBMC working again.
The reason was any xorg.conf setting.

i'm thinking this one

Quote:Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Disable"
EndSection

is needed.

But i don't know the exactly effects of this setting....
