HDMI sound not always working on Dharma Live with Sony Bravia
#1
I have a Acer Revo that ran XBMC Live 9.11 until recently and the sound worked great. Then I wanted to get my iPlayer back - so I wiped 9.11 and installed Dharma. I now find that HDMI sound only works some of the time. Sometimes my sony tv says "Unsupported Audio Signal". It is dependent on the source material being played.
From investigation it looks like it always works fine when audio shows as mp3, 44000 Hz, but it doesn't seem to like other frequencies.

This definitely worked fine on 9.11.

Is there any way to have XBMC resample the audio to a particular format before sending it along my HDMI cable?

Or does anyone have other ideas?

Thanks,

- Matt

You have to create an asound.conf in /etc with an instruction to resample all audio signals (ie: lower than 44KHz) to a rate that HDMI supports (ie: 44KHz).

There are lots of instructions on how to do this. If you search for posts by me you'll see one where I had this problem and someone else suggested the fix as well as later where another person had this problem and I suggested the fix. Smile

I hate to revive old post but I'm getting the same thing still.
I'm trying to watch rips of older Top Gear episodes and while series 1, 4-18 work series 2 and 3 give me that error.
Also some of the newer movies I've downloaded don't work either.

I've followed http://lifehacker.com/5391308/build-a-si...-the-cheap and http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=80779 but still no change.
I installed XBMCbuntu and that actually worked but since other stuff was causing the machine to crash a bunch I switched back to Live 10.1 and updated XBMC to Eden and still doesn't play.
Any ideas?
