I would imagen that there would not be. As the XBMC Devs use the same programming SDK that Plex Devs use or anyone wanting to create an app for an ATV 2 would use. My point is that the programming calls to the hardware are the same for everyone that uses the official Apple SDK (Software Development Kit). You can't make the video better than what the hardware can display or the programming interface available to address it.

Plex is a fork of the excellent work of XBMC and as of the moment Plex forked XBMC, there is NO comparison. XBMC and any other forks are separate projects, you would have to ask the right community.

Agree with Pooh.
More importantly, Plex created a closed source 'media server' that handles media transcoding for 'unsupported' file types like MKV, avi, etc on the iOS platform.
While XBMC guys figured out howto utilize the actual decoder built into the device. No transcoding needed. You're playing the media natively on the device.

Plex, at least last time I looked at it, can't say the same.
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plex_%28sof..._with_Plex

So it's apples to oranges comparing them these days, but it boils down to what your goals are. Most people here will be biased, for good reason. Smile

And topfs2 did a much better job succinctly explaining it than I did.

note that he asked in iOS, he probably refers to the iOS client.

Plex is a thinclient in this regard whereas xbmc is a full port. The video quality can be the same but XBMC will decode and present it on its own whereas plex will transcode (which will further destroy the video).
