Yes, it was down because it's hosted on Amazon EC2 clouding.
Restoring is in progress, but there is still slowness and problems ... :/
However http://www.themoviedb.org is reachable, but it's impossible for me to operate a scan of my Library.
I suppose that the Library Updating service is hosted elswhere than the webserver.

My xmbc has gone funny -
It's not saying -
Unable to connect to remote server
would you like to continue scanning?
I choose yes - and it appears right away again.
No just stops scanning --
I'm online on my windows 7 laptop -
No proxy -
Was working now just stopped!
Any suggestions?

I keep getting the error. Unable to connect to server.

its to do with themoviedb being down...

My XBMC has always worked good. but it stopped scanning for new movies and updating movie info. i have the following add-ons enabled. amazon.com , cinefacts , imdb , ofdb , and the moviedb. when you first start XBMC it used to show at the top it was scanning and adding new movie info. now when you start XBMC it shows a half second flash of the scanning at the top of XBMC and goes right off. and none of the movies ive lately added to my movie folder are showing up.

MovieDB has been having problems, only works for scraping in fits and starts. There are about 5 threads going about it.
If your XBMC can't access the online DB it can't scrape your new movies.

they are working as fast and as hard as they can apparently....
its been down since early yesterday so don't hold your breath...
I know, i'm in the same situation, i rebuilt my xbmc yesterday and tried to add my movies DOH!
