RE: [FORK] "PseudoTV Live" w/ LiveTV, InternetTV and added Strm Support - jurm - 2014-10-30 Having a problem with 0.54a, sometimes when you load a channel you just get a black screen with audio and the only way to fix it is to travel all the way back to the start of the show. One of the really old ones used to have this problem before it was fixed but its back again, any idea how to fix that? RE: [FORK] "PseudoTV Live" w/ LiveTV, InternetTV and added Strm Support - Beckyb33 - 2014-10-30 So I donated, but didn't receive a log in. I pm'd the OP, is that the right person to message? RE: [FORK] "PseudoTV Live" w/ LiveTV, InternetTV and added Strm Support - Zacharybinx34 - 2014-10-30 Alright guys, I've spent countless hours working through this, but I finally got it to work correctly. I'm posting this information for anyone else who runs into the same problems I ran into. Over the Air EPG DATA AND PTVL
If you are like me your PVR backend pulls in the channels as names that greatly differ from your EPG data retrieval tool. I use MC2XML. I recommend not trying to change channel names in the xmltv.xml file to match the channel names listed in PTVL. Instead follow my instructions below. Whatever your PVR backend is, mine is NEXT PVR, open it and go to the settings where you can change channel names. This is where you want to change your channel names in step 3. Also, I'd recommend not trying to change the channel names in your settings2.xml since you might want to re-autotune at some point which would wipe out your settings2.xml and remove your changes. Now, finding the channel names is the part that is sort of a pain but I found an easy way to do it since some of them differ greatly than how they show up in NEXT PVR. 1. Open your xmltv.xml file that was generated from MC2XML and look at the each channel entry. Those are all of the OTA channels available in your general area. Depending on your reception, some might not show up in your actual PVR. Begin with the first channel and copy the name that appears in there. For example, mine was KMSPDT (a Fox affiliate station). Now, you need to find this station's tv listing in your web browser. The site I used was http://www.zap2it.com/tvlistings Note, you will want to set your location there so it shows your local OTA stations. 2. Find this station ID (KMSPDT) then open up your NEXTPVR and go to Channel Guide. You should be able to compare the website with your channel guide in NEXT PVR to find out what NEXT PVR has labeled that station as. For me it was labeled as KSMP-HD, which is why PTVL wasn't syncing it with my EPG data automatically. For whatever reason PTVL has a tough time syncing them together unlike XBMC's LIVE TV. (NOTE: This assumes that you have already done the UPDATE EPG inside of NEXT PVR under settings - channels. Otherwise your NEXT PVR will have no channel data.) Once you have done this and gathered a list of all of the channels, you are ready to move on to the next step. My channel list ended up looking like this: The ones on the left are how they appeared in NEXT PVR and on the right of the ='s is how they appeared in my xmltv.xml file. Bounce = KMSPDT2 KMSP-HD = KMSPDT KARE-HD = KAREDT KARE_WX = KAREDT2 WDMI-LD = WDMILD WDMI-LD = WDMILD2 WUCW HD = WUCWDT Get TV = WUCWDT2 ZUUS = WUCWDT3 K33LN-D = K33LND tpt MN = KTCIDT2 qubo = KPXMDT2 KMSP-HD = WFTCDT2 WFTC-HD = WFTCDT MOVIES! = WFTCDT3 WCCO-DT = WCCODT tpt 2 = KTCADT tpt MN = KTCADT2 tpt Wx = KTCADT4 KSTPDT1 = KSTPDT ION = KPXMDT IONLife = KPXMDT3 TPT Life = KTCIDT3 3. Now, go to "Settings" inside of NEXT PVR and then "Channels". You are now going to change every channel name to the ID that was from your xmltv.xml from step 2. (For example I changed every station from the left name above to the name right of the ='s sign. Once you are done hit the UPDATE EPG option in NEXT PVR. 4. If you want to go back through and change the channel names on your settings2.xml for logos the best method I found for this was to look up the TV listings as shown above, then where it says channel number, i.e. KMSPDT - Ch 9.9 and then google your city name and channel 9.9. There is typically a wiki page that will tell you the network type, Fox, NBC, etc. That's it! Re-populate your XBMC/Kodi TV data inside of XBMC/KODI and autotune your settings2.xml. Glad I could be so "unhelpful" (even though pretty much everything you describe here has been told to you several times by multiple members including myself). Regardless, thanks for the nicely written guide. Maybe if you hadn't filled it with pot shots at the people who tried to help you it would end up linked in the first page. RE: [FORK] "PseudoTV Live" w/ LiveTV, InternetTV and added Strm Support - Zacharybinx34 - 2014-10-30 (2014-10-30, 15:33)azrael17 Wrote: Glad I could be so "unhelpful" (even though pretty much everything you describe here has been told to you several times by multiple members including myself). I wasn't making pot shots. Sorry bud, but your posts weren't helpful and NO ONE posted the method I figured out above. Regardless, you said it was "full of pot shots"? I made one comment about the instructions given in this thread being unhelpful.... if that's a potshot, you are one sensitive guy. For future reference, simply repeating, "JUST READ MAN" doesn't help when the person is reading and is tech savy enough for this kind of thing. But to be fair to you guys, I'm sure you all run into that a lot so it gets frustrating. Everything I read was instructions that didn't relate to my setup, or were just outdated and wrong. Granted, maybe you guys aren't used to dealing with OTA setups like mine, but if that's the case, don't demean the person when you aren't sure yourself. Regardless, thanks for your attempts to help at least. Lunatixz has me on ignore, but whatever. He misread the situation and there's nothing I can do about that. I'll still contribute what I can where I can. RE: [FORK] "PseudoTV Live" w/ LiveTV, InternetTV and added Strm Support - azrael17 - 2014-10-30 (2014-10-30, 15:39)Zacharybinx34 Wrote:(2014-10-30, 15:33)azrael17 Wrote: Glad I could be so "unhelpful" (even though pretty much everything you describe here has been told to you several times by multiple members including myself). Your entire "method" hinges on changing the names in NEXT PVR instead of xmltv (which if done right should still match). A few days ago I sent you message that said: Quote:Basically you have to match the names of your PVR channel streams (you'll have to figure out what these are as I'm not sure where they are exactly) to the channel names in xmltv. You can change the name of either, as far as I know, as long as they match. But I shouldn't be surprised that you take the stance you do. Since you blame everyone else when things don't work it only makes sense that you take credit for everything when they do. This is a great community where people make their best efforts to help each other. Acting the way you do towards others only acts to discourage this cooperation. I took a lot of my own personal time to help you, even when everyone else had already started ignoring you. Yet you take the extra time to take a shot at me and everyone else who tried to help. And let's face it, that was a shot. There were far more diplomatic ways to say that every suggestion you tried before was unsuccessful, but the words "since the responses I got here were.... let's just say, unhelpful..." was clearly intended as a dig. RE: [FORK] "PseudoTV Live" w/ LiveTV, InternetTV and added Strm Support - Zacharybinx34 - 2014-10-30 (2014-10-30, 15:55)azrael17 Wrote:(2014-10-30, 15:39)Zacharybinx34 Wrote:(2014-10-30, 15:33)azrael17 Wrote: Glad I could be so "unhelpful" (even though pretty much everything you describe here has been told to you several times by multiple members including myself). My "unhelpful at best" comment, honestly was not directed towards you. I said the comments in this thread. No where in this thread does anyone come close to what you said. And to be fair, I tried what you said to do, and PTVL wouldn't even populate my Live TV stations at all anymore. But regardless, your idea was what led me to finding out my solution, which was reversing your instructions basically. I'm not trying to "take credit", I'm just posting this since no one else has posted it, and the instructions IN THIS THREAD are unhelpful at best. The messages you sent me are NOT in this thread... so no one has access to them. Regardless, your instructions didn't work for my setup, so that's irrelevant anyways. RE: [FORK] "PseudoTV Live" w/ LiveTV, InternetTV and added Strm Support - bry - 2014-10-30 now now children. I'm just saying you can contribute (and I'm encouraging you to do so), without taking shots at people that tried to help you, irregardless of whether their "help" was the ultimate answer or not. Every contribution was a step toward the same end goal. EDIT: I think you post would make an excellent guide and should be linked on the first page, but I don't see it happening with all the "don't listen to other people" and "other people are wrong and unhelpful" sentiments scattered throughout. RE: [FORK] "PseudoTV Live" w/ LiveTV, InternetTV and added Strm Support - Beckyb33 - 2014-10-30 My community channels have imported correctly, thanks for the help. RE: [FORK] "PseudoTV Live" w/ LiveTV, InternetTV and added Strm Support - azrael17 - 2014-10-30 On another note, as of now the easiest way to check for updates to the community list is to click the link on page one and look at: a) Under "Source" and "Browse", the dates of the last revisions. b) Under "Source" and "Changes", the change logs. I know when I make revisions I try to provide detailed change logs of what was added/removed/moved. As for adding new sources without autotuning, if you open the individual files it will give you all the variables to set up your own settings2.xml entries. To be honest, while I contribute fairly often to the community list, I rarely ever autotune myself as I find I have more control manually setting things up. Another good technique may be to autotune and then copy/paste the entries you want into a blank settings2.xml. "DO NOT change your xmltv.xml file to match the channel names listed in PTVL." Quote:"Do NOT listen to the advice here and try to change it in settings2.xml, that is pointless since you might want to re-autotune at some point thus wiping your settings2.xml and hard work out unless you do." "DO NOT change it in settings2.xml since you might want to re-autotune at some point thus wiping your settings2.xml." I would suggest making those changes as well. PS: You kind of let the cat out of the bag there Becky/Zach. I'm saying the instructions in this thread say to do X, Don't do that as it's either not ideal, or flat out won't work... And the changes I made say the same thing without calling everyone else "pointless" and "useless". Seriously, don't be so sensitive. Regardless, I edited it, let me know if I need to change anything else. Point is, all of the "JUST READ LOL" comments in this thread were innapropriate and unhelpful, and some of them, flat out rude. I dont' see you calling any of them out, and in fact, you made a few of the same unhelpful comments. I really get that you run into people who are lazy and want to be hand held through the setup process, but I'm clearly not of that nature, so when people accuse me of it, it's offensive and annoying. or as i said before, unhelpful/useless/pointless. |
