spaces to seem to be the issue - cancerboyuofa - 2010-12-28

I do in fact have the quotations around it, not sure what could be causing this?

Confirmed Spaces issue - cancerboyuofa - 2010-12-28

Just wanted to confirm that it is in fact a space in the filename issue. I just tried a rom without any spaces and it loads fine.

fr500 Wrote:Yes but as a suggestion wouldn't it be possible to have a default on the general settings? that way it would be quicker when adding games, especially the first time.
Yes... but this default MUST be defined by the user before scrap any images related to the launhcer

fr500 Wrote:My guess is the most common use cases are:

1. artwork on the same place as the game executable
2. all the artwork consolidated on an external folder
Your first option is only be possible under Windows. Under linux, due to highest security users cannot access binary directories. Your second option is effectively the most common for stand alone launchers and those directories needs to be defined first by the user. I will try to see what I can do.

This is related to the new command line format support. I did not really have finished to completely test it and it may still problems under windows. Have you try without the " ?

Yes... but it will be better if it could support white spaces into filename. I will try to fix it.

yes, issue with new version - cancerboyuofa - 2010-12-28

I didn't ever have any problems prior, so I can only assume the issue is with the new command line arguments. I am running under windows. Look forward to see if you can see whats wrong.

Edit: I did just try it without the "" and it does the same thing.

Angelscry,

Sincere appreciation of all the work you put in and make available to us freely. The options all are a work now and it is very good =) . Please continue your dedication at your leisure as we all are grateful. The choice you suggested to me to back up launchers.xml and the advice of the google.com being the issue are both correct.

There's a bug somewhere (it affects both Launcher and Executor) that if you have a CD in the drive the browse dialog will only show the CD. Try unmounting the virtual CD and see if it works.

Hm, it's missing and I can't switch any directories. Sad

Thank you also to you for all your feedbacks. I cannot fix and improve the Advanced Launcher alone without the help of the users.

I'm not really familiar with the XBMC live version. Maybe, when you are under XBMC, try to add a source (video or music) pointing to your home or root directory. Then when you will be under Advanced Launcher you will then have the possibility to access those directories.

Try going into XBMC's file manager and adding the root directory as a source. It should then show up in ALA.

@htpc_guy

Thanks for the added info on your N64 setup using the applauncher.sh script. I've now got my N64 roms launching great using mupen64plus.

I installed version 1.99 of mupen64plus, rather than the version 1.5 in repositories. The official 1.99 binary didn't work for me, but I found a custom package with everything needed for ubuntu 10.04 all wrapped up. If anyone else is interested, you can find the download link in this post: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...366&p=10200853

The only trick to getting this new version going was that at first I had to run mupen using sudo (which I don't think would work with ALA). To solve that, I took ownership of the mupen folder, and now all is well:

Code:
sudo chown xxxxx ~/.local/share/mupen64plus

where xxxxx is the xbmc userid

Hope this helps someone.

Ok i have to try the new version and check if it downloads thumbs...

One question please, If I want to add a SNES emulator with 50 roms in one folder, can the addon make the launchers per each rom or do i have to add these one by one?

Can the launcher pick my my own thumbs named like those batch files or roms in .jpg or .pngHuh??

I'm not entirely sure I understand your question, but if you have your SNES roms in one folder, you just set the launcher up with that folder as the rom path. Then you choose "Add Roms" from the context menu when highlighting that launcer. This will scan the specified directory and add all the roms it finds.

If the images have the same file name as the roms (aside from extension) and are in the directory specified in the launcher setup, ALA should pick up your local images and only download images for any missing ones.
