List all Windows supplemental tools here - Ned Scott - 2012-06-18

Compiling a list on the XBMC Wiki for Windows supplemental tools: Supplemental tools/Windows (wiki)

The question is, what's not on this list that should be? Feel free to suggest other categories as well.

This easy remote MCE setup tool - http://xbmccustomregis.sourceforge.net/remote_auto.html - and there's that jhsrennie tool that shows you which key code is coming through, a bit lir irw on linux except better - ShowKey IIRC - http://xbmcmce.sourceforge.net/ - those too make setting up and programming an RC6 type remote a doddle, and also help with focus stealing issues (the green button will auto launch or bring xbmc back to focus).

Also for focus - focusbitch is very handy - http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=125902&page=3

WinSCP is worth a mention - great for scp'ing into Openelec etc.

Pyscripter & tortoisegit if you code add ons Smile

And to return the compliment - you've done great work on the wiki - when I showed up in 2009 it was a shambles but it's now really much, much better....very useful.

Monitor Asset Manager - great free tool for checking HDMI EDID data from TV's and receivers - lists all supported modes.

And +1 on the Wiki-work wookie Wink

Should we include some video/music editing/fixing tools there too? Like mkvtoolinx (mkv remuxing), Handbrake (video encoding), Cypheros TSDoctor (transport stream fixer for DVB recordings), MusicBrainz Picard (mp3 tagger, identifier).

Or do we already have another section for those?

I found Handbrake and MKVmerge an essential part of my kit.

I should have mentioned a good editor like Notepad++ is useful

Do you want to include ripping tools - What about MakeMKV and ClownBD - oh and AnotherEAC3to GUI

RE: List all Windows supplemental tools here - ECEC - 2012-06-18

EventGhost for advanced remote options and scripting.

One more rename tool - Bulk Rename Utility. It is freeware, still under development and feature rich. Regular Expressions support is available.

Nice subtitle editor - Subtitle Edit. Can OCR Blu-ray .sup files and then convert to .SRT (i like them better) and a lot more functions which i wont mention. Also can work under Linux if MONO is presented.

+1 for MKVmerge/MKVToolNix .

I can't believe I forgot about ripping tools! Category added!

RE: List all Windows supplemental tools here - Ned Scott - 2012-06-19

All added, I think. Feel free to update the descriptions on the wiki, since I kind of just slapped on whatever.

Here's another useful one - a log parser to improve readability:

Also, I like PyScritper for addon dev:

I feel I shoudl point out taht whiel MakeMKV is a very good tool, Blu-Ray ripping is only possible with Beta versions.

I've come to use AnyDVD (somethign else you may want to add) and use VidCoder ti rip my BDs to mkv//mp4/etc. From what I understand, it's a video-only version based on Handbrake, but i find it pretty easy to use.
