RE: Live TV doesn't work on Openelec [tvheadend server] - Jeilong - 2013-02-18

https://github.com/opdenkamp/xbmc-pvr-addons/issues/166

Opdenkamp says it in omxplayer. Appearantly the omxplayer expects the stream to start exactly with an I-frame? Do other PVR add-ons also suffer from this or do their respective backends take care of this?

Also when I playback a recorded raw DVB transport stream it works fine on the Pi. I would not expect a raw stream to start exactly at the point an I-frame starts. How come this is working and streaming live TV is not?

I found some additional references about I-frame issues here:

One question I cannot find an answer for since this issue started:
If LiveTV doesn't work (black screen, wrong AR), then why adding "htsp://tvheadendsrv:9982" as a video source works perfectly (no black screen and correct AR)?

The only difference I can make our is that when starting LiveTV the playback immediately starts, but when starting via the video source it will buffer initially and after each channel switch.

Good morning,
any progress with latest releases ?

I pulled openelec from git and compiled it yesterday. Still the same. Blank screen.

You can get a picture if you keep changing channels. Usually about 10 changes is enough. But AR is still wrong even if you do get the picture.
So it does not work.

Why is this RPi specific by the way? Or is it an ARM thing?

The problem has only been reported on the Raspberry Pi.
The problem is not existing on XBMC for Windows or other platforms.

According to this it's a bug in OMXPlayer on the raspberrypi firmware:
https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/issues/137

Ah makes sense. Thanks Smile

Openelec 3.0 RC3 has the same problem. Blackscreen and no audio on both the SD and HD Channels.

From the github link provided :

Code:
I confirm the problem with the vu+/enigma2 pvr addon. On Pc it works fine but on raspberry pi it does not with mpeg2.
I can stream some hd channels, others just works a couple of seconds but mpeg2 allways show black screen and only sound. i have bought and installd the codec and have tried with both openelec and rasbmc with same result

So engiame2 backend and tvheadend backend arent working with the Pi.

I had the Mediaportal PVR addon working fine yesterday on Raspbmc. On OpenElec it restarted XBMC every time I tried, although I could play recordings OK.

Then when I tried again later, Raspbmc was rebooting every time I tried to start Live TV so it seems a bit hit and miss. I might try the VDR server later as per these instructions http://forum.stmlabs.com/showthread.php?tid=6580&page=6

I would be eternally grateful to hear from someone who has an early Openelec\Raspbmc build with a reliable live TV service using TVheadend as a backend. I actually bought the RPi for this purpose alone and it was woking quite well up until the recent XBMC updates and I have not kept the old firmware files to roll back to ....

A build with working infra-red would be great but that's not essential, I would just like to get wife-friendly live TV back up and running on my kitchen TV again!

RE: Live TV doesn't work on Openelec [tvheadend server] - CicakDOS - 2013-03-04

I have
- RPi 512MB (overclocked@900MHz)
- Openelec 2.99.4
- HTS Client Plugin from post #82
- TVHeadend 3.2.18 on Synology DS713+

SD Channels without problems (german cable network) - sometimes need manually audio switch on "RTL Television", HD Channels black screen/no audio.

I don't think this problem get fixed any time soon. Nobody feels responsible for this behaviour. I tried to create an issue for the omxplayer and xbmc but both get closed.
