RE: [HOW TO] XBMC Linux on Geniatech Devices - Animus - 2014-02-18

Already thought about that and used it few times.
But if it's possible I'd rather do it the sftp way with flashfxp (or any other similar program)

I've been using XBMC for years on mx Xbox. I'm quite familiar with the program itself. But this ssh and putty and everything gave me quite a headache.

So yeah, I'm still uncertain about if it's even possible to do it like I planned.

Hey Animus

Not sure if its possible but you could try change the permissions on the ext hard drive

If you have ssh you have sftp, and scp.

Alright. Big step up here. The problem seems to be the NTFS filesystem rather than the connection.
Tried it with a FAT32 thumb drive and it worked.

RE: [HOW TO] XBMC Linux on Geniatech Devices - Animus - 2014-02-18

Just tried to change the permissions in putty with "chmod -r 777 /media/usb0"

but then it just says "read-only filesystem"

Has anyone had any issues with using either of these versions a generic AML8726-MX box?

I am about to order a few boxes. I was going to go with this one with hope of Wifi one day on the XDA version............................................

Has anyone tried audio out through HDMI? On my ATV1200 is sounds warbled, but is fine through the RCA.

(Only reason to use this it's to test a Chromecast via a switch)

I've added a youtube video of the flashing process

Sorry no personal experience with that box.

How many "I haven't any idea if that will work" responses are you expecting. I suspect there could be N*0.9999 negative responses eventually where N is the total number of users on forum.xbmc.org.

PS as it is relatively cheap, and seems to include shipping, why don't YOU buy one and enlighten the rest of us?

anyone with an ATV520 running XDA Linux?

I'm running the PRE-RC2 version and it's pretty stable (aside from not waking up when I switch my hdmi amp back to it's imput the next day).

someone in the thread linked to a new build, wondering if this would work on the 520.

Yes, it should work with XDA version... I tried to flash Geniatech to a generic ATV1200 and it didn't go whereas the XDA version did.

Yes, I don't see why it wouldn't. I appreciate that stenka85 complied the build and I'll try it tonight on my ATV1200.

Is this build based on Pivos, Geniatech and/or Croniccorey?
