Looks very promising! YMMV. RE: USB Thumbdrive sized Intel Quad Atom Z3735 (Bay-Trail) for XBMC? - nickr - 2015-01-12 I have one. What I found before I stupidly bricked it is that it comes with unlicensed win8.1. Is that called windows bing or something? It is possible to install linux. Openelec should work, but there MAY be a problem with audio drivers. On win8.1 kodi helix worked in my limited pre-bricking experiment. Actually it is too small and light to be a brick, more the size of one of those rubber wedges for holding a door open. Do NOT change the USB settings in the bios. I did and now I have no control, because the only control is via USB, and my USB no longer works. It now boots to a windows splash screen, pre-login screensavery type page. The wifi icon even comes on and it is on the lan. Alas I did not set up any remote access software. Resetting bios is via - you guessed it - USB stick. USB doesn't work, do not pass go, do not collect $200.00. I didn't activate bluetooth, but I doubt a BT keyboard works in the bios anyway so that wouldn't do more than keep me on windows. RE: USB Thumbdrive sized Intel Quad Atom Z3735 (Bay-Trail) for XBMC? - BenH - 2015-01-12 Hi Nick Can you boot off the MicroSD? or is that disabled with USB? If so, perhaps you could get someone else who owns one to install an OS to SD card with VNC enabled and if you could boot that and VNC to it you could run a script to reset the bios (if such a script exists). A lot of if's there. Ben RE: USB Thumbdrive sized Intel Quad Atom Z3735 (Bay-Trail) for XBMC? - tavoc - 2015-01-12 (2015-01-12, 05:07)nickr Wrote: I have one. If you have a network share enabled, it could be that you have access to the commandline over SMB RE: USB Thumbdrive sized Intel Quad Atom Z3735 (Bay-Trail) for XBMC? - nickr - 2015-01-12 (2015-01-12, 06:48)BenH Wrote: Hi Nick Thanks, nice idea but no cigar, it does not boot off microSD at all. There is a .bat file that will apparently reflash the bios (although this is far from clear given the level of support from you know where.) (2015-01-12, 10:39)tavoc Wrote: Do you have RDP enabled? I don't think it has RDP enabled, in fact one of the last things I played with BB [1] was trying to work out how to set up RDP. How do you get a commandline over SMB? [1] Before Bricking Oh and for the curious, unplugging the miniscule bios battery for 15 hours did not help. RE: USB Thumbdrive sized Intel Quad Atom Z3735 (Bay-Trail) for XBMC? - tavoc - 2015-01-12 You can execute commands over SMB (File and Print Sharing need to be enabled) if you have your username/password ready. For example you can use the "Nessus Tool", which provides a SMBshell. Old Description: http://carnal0wnage.attackresearch.com/2008/11/passing-hash-and-other-fun-with-tenable.html I am not sure if this NASL is included in the free version, as I have the professional license. Another possibility is to use Metasploit, where you can exploit a known vulnerability in Windows 8 (unlikely at the moment) or use https://www.redspin.com/blog/labs/2011/03/15/get-a-meterpreter-shell-using-smb-credentials/ All you need is a second host and a network connection. Metasploit comes preinstalled in "Kali" RE: USB Thumbdrive sized Intel Quad Atom Z3735 (Bay-Trail) for XBMC? - nickr - 2015-01-12 Cheers I'll look into it. |
