.ifo (DVD-Video) unplayable from LanDrive SMB NAS box - riverkwai - 2006-07-10 i have ripped a dvd using dvd decriptor into my hard disk. i then use xbmc to browse to the directory and can only see the file video_ts.ifo. when i ty to play the file by clicking on it, nothing happens. how can i use xbmc to play dvd files that are ripped on the hard disk? - riverkwai - 2006-07-10 is there a setting to enable the dvd player in xbmc? or should clicking the ifo file automatically launch the dvd player? can anyone tell me why isn't clicking on the video_ts.ifo file giving me any response? - snappz - 2006-07-10 if you only see the video_ts.ifo then you either have stacking on or you didnt ripp the disc properly. clicking on video_ts.ifo should play the movie. what date is your build of xbmc from? - riverkwai - 2006-07-10 oh yes, i have stacking set to on. anyway, i have ripped the dvd correctly as i am able to watch it on my pc using powerdvd. but when i click on the video_ts.ifo on my xbmc, nothing happened. that's why i am asking is there any setting i need to enable the dvd player in xbmc? my xbmc version is 2006-06-18 t3ch build. - snappz - 2006-07-10 cant think of any settings. you may need to update your version of xbmc. a month can be a very long time with the amount of updates made to the source. - elupus - 2006-07-10 i'd check the log file if i where you. you probably have a broken install, or that dvd is vey broken. - smuto - 2006-07-10 mayby this is similar to mine problem when i try to play the stacking file by clicking on it, nothing happens, nothing wrong in the log file also. but when i set stacking to off then to on before clicking on it just work fine. - riverkwai - 2006-07-11 there seeems to be some problem with my dvd player playing dvd ripped on to my network drive. here is the log file. can anyone suggest what seems to be the problem? is there any settings that could have affected this, eg cache setting set too small, or other reasons??? (ps: i don't think its a broken install as i was able to use xbmc to play dvds with menus using the dvd tray) 07:36:33 m: 38838272 notice: dvdplayer: opening: smb://storage/public/dvd/caterpillar/video_ts.ifo 07:36:33 m: 38858752 notice: cdvdplayer::closefile() 07:36:33 m: 38858752 notice: dvdplayer: waiting for threads to exit 07:36:33 m: 38858752 notice: dvdplayer: finished waiting 07:36:33 m: 38330368 notice: creating inputstream 07:36:33 m: 38006784 warning: unable to remove tracked file from tracker 07:36:33 m: 38055936 error: inputstream: error opening, smb://storage/public/dvd/caterpillar/video_ts.ifo 07:36:33 m: 38055936 notice: cdvdplayer::onexit() 07:36:33 m: 38055936 notice: dvdplayer: eof, waiting for queues to empty 07:36:33 m: 38055936 notice: cdvdplayer::onexit() deleting input stream 07:36:33 m: 38055936 notice: cdvdplayer::onexit() deiniting subtitle handler 07:36:33 m: 38580224 error: playlist player: skipping unplayable item: 0, path [smb://storage/public/dvd/caterpillar/video_ts.ifo] 07:36:33 m: 38563840 notice: dvdplayer: opening: smb://storage/public/dvd/maisyfarm/video_ts/video_ts.ifo 07:36:33 m: 38604800 notice: cdvdplayer::closefile() 07:36:33 m: 38584320 notice: dvdplayer: waiting for threads to exit 07:36:33 m: 38584320 notice: dvdplayer: finished waiting 07:36:33 m: 38060032 notice: creating inputstream 07:36:33 m: 37990400 warning: unable to remove tracked file from tracker 07:36:33 m: 38060032 error: inputstream: error opening, smb://storage/public/dvd/maisyfarm/video_ts/video_ts.ifo 07:36:33 m: 38060032 notice: cdvdplayer::onexit() 07:36:33 m: 38060032 notice: dvdplayer: eof, waiting for queues to empty 07:36:33 m: 38060032 notice: cdvdplayer::onexit() deleting input stream 07:36:33 m: 38060032 notice: cdvdplayer::onexit() deiniting subtitle handler 07:36:33 m: 38584320 error: playlist player: skipping unplayable item: 1, path [smb://storage/public/dvd/maisyfarm/video_ts/video_ts.ifo] - riverkwai - 2006-07-11 could it be a cache issue? it couldn't be a samba sharing problem as i was able to play the .vob files in the same directory, it's just the .ifo files that has no respond when i click on it. - mebby - 2006-07-11 i'm new (like 2 days into it) using xbmc but i modded my xbox for the sole purpose of streaming my dvds from my 300gb harddrive upstairs. anway, before i used xbmc i used a roku photobridge for this purpose and it worked great but the interface wasn't all the exciting - hence the plunge into the depths of xbmc. long story short, i ripped all my dvds in ifo/vob format simply b/c the photobridge could not read isos and subsequently could not support dvd menus. so... i'm able to play by ifo/vob files perfectly with the latest version of xbmc but it sounds like i have mine organized a bit differently than you. i simply have one folder for each movie and then within the folder i have one ifo file and several vob files (capped at 1gb each) and xbmc plays the sequence of files perfectly with no other action from me except for hitting play on the dvd cover art. so i think the only difference for me is that i don' thave the file in a ts_video folder... give it a shot and maybe it will work. - elupus - 2006-07-11 huh.. i though i posted here.. that is no debug log.. you need to hold x, y on startup to get one. (make sure free mem is visible) - river kwai - 2006-07-12 here's the debug log: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 05:54:36 m: 53682176 notice: starting xboxmediacenter. built on jun 19 2006 05:54:50 m: 39469056 debug: parentpath = [smb://storage/public/dvd/] 05:54:50 m: 39469056 debug: directory::csmbdirectory::opendir -
