Bug?: Crash on initial load - tenchi89 - 2008-02-27 I have been poking around trying to figure out what the deal is for a while now. I can't find anything on the forums or the FAQ's and the crash reports and log files are next to useless it seems. I had this working about three weeks ago with no problem. in the mean while I installed Visual Hub and SoundSource. I also installed the latest patches for OSX and the update for the Perian plug in. I don't know if these could interfere at all with OSXBMC but I thought I'd mention it anyway. The problem is such. I open XBMC and it crashes after the "T3CH" screen appears. Here are the appropriate log / dump files xbmc.log Code: ... System.log Code: Feb 26 21:39:30 MacPro /Applications/XBMC.app/Contents/MacOS/XBMC[7523]: CPSGetCurrentProcess(): This call is deprecated and should not be called anymore. - d4rk - 2008-02-27 What are your system specs? If possible, post a backtrace as well. - tenchi89 - 2008-02-27 Hardware Model Name: Mac Pro Model Identifier: MacPro1,1 Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz Number Of Processors: 2 Total Number Of Cores: 4 L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB Memory: 3 GB Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz Boot ROM Version: MP11.005C.B08 SMC Version: 1.7f10 Serial Number: G870829QUPZ Video NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT: Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT Type: Display Bus: PCIe Slot: Slot-4 PCIe Lane Width: x8 VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x0393 Revision ID: 0x00a1 ROM Revision: 3008 Displays: DELL 2407WFP: Resolution: 1200 x 1920 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Rotation: Supported DELL 2707WFP: Resolution: 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Rotation: Supported Audio Intel High Definition Audio: Audio ID: 12 Available Devices: Line Out: Connection: 1/8 inch Jack Headphone: Connection: 1/8 inch Jack Line In: Connection: 1/8 inch Jack Speaker: Connection: Internal S/P-DIF Out: Connection: Optical S/P-DIF In: Connection: Optical Here is a link to the ThreadDump file. http://nycmacguru.com/frankie/XBMC_2008-02-26-225657_MacPro.crash Hopefully this helps. Thanks Fascinating - elan - 2008-02-27 It looks like it's crashing trying to open the audio device to play a skin sound. That's really, really strange, and it's not obvious why XBMC code is at fault. You might want to play around with your Sound/Audio MIDI settings. Also check your system logs to see if anything strange is showing up. - d4rk - 2008-02-27 Actually it looks like it's crashing elsewhere, specifically at __semwait_signal. Thread 1's backtrace: Code: Thread 1 Crashed: Thread 0 I think just happened to be opening the audio device at the same time. - elan - 2008-02-27 d4rk Wrote:Actually it looks like it's crashing elsewhere, specifically at __semwait_signal. That's a red herring, d4rk. The crash reports often say that the wrong thread has crashed -elan - d4rk - 2008-02-27 elan Wrote:That's a red herring, d4rk. The crash reports often say that the wrong thread has crashedah ok That makes sense. I'm not sure what exactly thread 1 is supposed to be doing anyway, it doesn't even look like an XBMC thread. - tenchi89 - 2008-02-29 I'll try and back track what I did to cause it to explode. I was trying to get Quicktime to passthrough AC3 Audio and there was some hackery that came from it. Also I remember installing Visual Hub and an update to Perian (codec pack for Audio Visual goodies) If anything I'm also planning on doing a clean wipe of this machine soon unless trouble shooting this could help you guys out in any way. - elan - 2008-02-29 I saw another crash on CLog, so I'm going to look into it for this next version. Thanks for the report! -elan - Gamester17 - 2008-02-29 @tenchi89, please use pastebin.com for posting logs in the future then only post the URL in the forum (do not cut & paste logs into the forum) |
