XBMC (Atlantis) for Linux - Alpha 3 release - Please report all bugs to Trac - wattazoum - 2008-08-13 Hello all, XBMC 2.1 alpha 3 has been released on the XBMC stable PPAs. See http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=185738&postcount=1 . Please test it and report any bug and problem you are getting. This is mandatory to have the official release as stable as possible. See http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=34655 to know how to post a problem. Remember that our bug tracker is on http://trac.xbmc.org/ now. Best Regards wattazoum - yellowman - 2008-08-13 Awesome, great work! Looking forward to test this one! - vostok4 - 2008-08-14 Thanks! When trying to upgrade from either the SVN PPA or the Hardy PPA I always am told that xbmc and xbmc-common on Ubuntu Hardy, just after doing a worldwide apt-get update then apt-get upgrade. Any insight on how to upgrade to this build? - wattazoum - 2008-08-14 I don't get what you mean ... :/ Anyway, A bug has been discovered in alpha3. You might not want to install it. I am waiting for a decision of the team to release a new version. - jmarshall - 2008-08-14 The problem, I believe, is only with release executables - does PPA use release binaries? Cheers, Jonathan - wattazoum - 2008-08-14 PPA is basically a way to release precompiled stuffs. It's like a "./configure, make, make install". The binary and the source code used to compile are on the PPA. When I installed the PPA version on my machine, I got a segfault in the xbmc.bin. - yellowman - 2008-08-14 wattazoum Wrote:Anyway, A bug has been discovered in alpha3. Quite a few people canĀ“t run the alpha 3 at all. Will there be a fixed version on the PPA, or should we build our own instead? - UncleDirtNap - 2008-08-14 Doh! Sure wish I'd seen this before I updated and then posted a bunch of questions asking for help. Just a thought from a newb; if there's a problem with the last PPA might it not be prudent to remove it and put beta 2 back up until a decisions been made on how to move forward? I don't suppose there's an easy way to go back to beta 2 at this point? - wattazoum - 2008-08-14 PPA version updated . The new alpha 3 version is called 8.10 alpha 3 (codename Atlantis ) . I have personally tested that it runs now :-) Have fun - tsint - 2008-08-14 Seems to work, thanks! - yellowman - 2008-08-14 Yeah, that one worked like charm Thanks a bunch for fixing it so fast! - UncleDirtNap - 2008-08-15 No joy on my end, still not working. I completely removed xbmc and reinstalled using the PPA and have the same problem: screen flashes black as if starting then crashes to desktop taking the mouse with it. Is there something else should be doing? When I try to run in a terminal I get the error message: ../xbmc/util.h:70: int MathUtils::round_int(double): Assertion 'x > static_cast <double>((-2147483647 1) / 2) - 1.0' failed Aborted I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 updated as of 08/14 on an x86 Core 2 Duo 3.0 2G ram and an an ATI HD Radeon 2600 Is there some place I can send or post the log? - UncleDirtNap - 2008-08-15 UncleDirtNap Wrote:I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 updated as of 08/14 on an x86 Core 2 Duo 3.0 2G ram and an an ATI HD Radeon 2600 Sorry, meant i686 Core 2 Duo - wattazoum - 2008-08-15 UncleDirtNap Wrote:When I try to run in a terminal I get the error message: Are you sure you are running the right version ? cause this was the problem in the last alpha3 . Try to use : Code: dpkg-query -W xbmc - althekiller - 2008-08-15 Wattazoum, please build all alpha and beta releases with debugging enabled (ie. do NOT pass --disable-debug to configure). These builds are for the team to improve XBMC and users cannot provide us with useful backtraces if the binary doesn't include debug symbols. |
