RMVB opens too slow - lch1105 - 2009-04-21

it's very nice that 9.04 Babylon Alpha 1 can support RMVB playback now, but open too slow, even a small size movie.

it must take about 1~2 minutes to begin playing after press Play button.

Could this be fixed in Final Build of Babylon? If then, it sould be the time to upgrade my XBOX to a Mac Mini in my living room Big GrinBig Grin

And assuming I don't know what "RMVB playback" is, details please and an example would be nice.

How to play .rm/.rmvb in XBMC build 8.10? - shebalord - 2009-04-22

Hi ppl,

I have XBMC build 8.10 installed on my PC running Vista Ultimate x32. Whenever I try to play a .rm file, it does nothing and when I try to play a .rmvb file it detects it as an audio file and only plays audio like a music file. How should I fix it?

I can play the same .rm/.rmvb file fine in WMP and MPC. Am I missing something here?

My computer specs are as follows:

Asus P5Q Pro
Intel E8400
4g OCZ ram
ATI Radeon 4850 512meg
Vista Ultimate x32
K-Lite codec pack

Thanks in advance!

I don't think real media is even supported...it's a pretty crappy format.

RM's worked great on the Xbox1 for as long as I can remember. I'm not sure about windows though. I haven't downloaded any rm files recently to test it with... but it's possible it doesn't work so well in the windows version. Kind of like wmv files. They play great on the Xbox1 but barely at all on XBMC for Windows.

I updated to latest build and now the .rm/.rmvb files are playing. But it always has a gray bar either on the right or bottom of the video...any ideas on how to fix?

Thanks!

*.rmvb files can be full supported now, including video and audio.
The problem is that it must take about 1~2 minutes to begin playing after press Play button. After opened, it play perfectly.

Well, since you have given no info nor examples of where to find a "*.rmvb", I'm not about to waste my time hunting one down so I can replicate the problem and look into possible fixes.

No examples, no soup, and I'm moving on to other items.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

RealMedia Variable Bitrate (RMVB) is a variable bitrate extension of the RealMedia multimedia container format developed by RealNetworks.

Is this clearly enough?

You still did not provide a sample.

It's like pulling teeth...

Do you mean a sample RMVB movie file? It's too big to upload here.

Please try any of RMVB file you can find.
