Whole debug log file here: http://pastebin.com/7tYs4w8n

I left it "working" for a minute or so on the file before I eventually closed XBMC (otherwise it'd have gone on indefinitely).
DEBUG: CFGManager::ConnectDirect: Failed connecting MKV Source.Japanese, Japanese Audio (5.1 48kHz/16bit FLAC) (Audio 1) pin to ffdshow audio decoder. In
thats your problem your japanese! (Jokes)
The problem might be in the ffdshow audio codecs configuration. You might have to go in the settings and allow flac codecs.

For everyone else got some news. I been working for the last 2 days and 5 minutes ago i finally got my first video rendering directly from an ".ISO" The only thing that is currently not working with it is the dvd menu but its already a big advantage to handle them directly Big Grin.
I also talked with blinkseb and we will switch ffdshow video to mpcvideo by default on the next releases..

Very cool news tiben!! Thanks again for your and everyone else's hard work on this.

uncertainty Wrote:BTW I just upgraded to rev 29028 and I can't seem to get any MKV that has subtitles to play (it just hangs). All my other media works fine but I've narrowed it down to MKV's that have subtitles. Im running under win7 and will provide debug logs but wanted to know if other win7 users have mkvs with subtitles working?

thanks

LyndonW Wrote:Bug with Haali from what I found. It was accidently set as default in that version. Try replacing the rule for mkv in XBMC\system\players\dsplayer\dsfilterconfig.xml

      <splitter filter="mkvsplitter" />
      <video>
        <video dxva="true" filter="ffdvideodxvadec" />

steelman1991 Wrote:Can't help with the subtitles issue, although I originally posted this as a problem (and Seb is currently investigating) the change as described by Lyndon should work. Could you post your mkv rule from the config file.

Neither do you advise which gfx card your using or build number - might be useful to have a read here for future reference as well http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=42708 and post a debug log.

Seb\Tiben,

When I try to play this mkv http://pastebin.com/EcbZNufm, or this one http://pastebin.com/LFX7KN7K, dsplayer playing just hangs -

debug - http://pastebin.com/3LJtQVVz -

I notice the error - 10:32:27 T:3292 M:1110581248 ERROR: CThread:ConfusedtaticThread : Access violation at 0x7711fc47: Writing location 0x00000014 is the same as macmel - dont know if its the ASS subs or multiple audio tracks - as file number two (http://pastebin.com/LFX7KN7K) has no ASS subs, but several audio tracks.

Any thoughts?

blinkseb Wrote:I've just had the same problem, and fixed it. It was because of subtitles style. I hope it will fix your issue Smile

Seb mentioned that he fixed this problem with mkv's with subs, just gotta wait for the next realease.

the goods just keeps on coming, good news tiben on the ISO.
You people REALLy ROCK!!!

uncertainty Wrote:This is not a dsplayer issue but rather ffdshow. Do a google search ffdshow+sar and you will see some threads on it. It occurs when sar is different the par which is rare. Out of my 1000 movies or so I see it afew times....

Not sufficiently experienced in ffdshow/DirectShow filter nonsense to really challenge you on this one, but are you sure that information is correct - I don't use ffdshow in my config for any video processing - everything through mpcvideodec and I experience the same problem as the Claus. I have attached media information and linked here to a debug log http://pastebin.com/Q3ts6Ld5.

Just as an aside I have tried this file both in DVDPlayer and MPC-HC and the correct AR is displayed in both. Only mention this to confirm that the issue doesn't lie with the encode.

Good news about the ISO - well done.

Any update on the FPS and auto refresh rate issues?

Cheers

Hey! Just give us some times! Last update was 3/4 days ago!

For the subtitles, it has been fixed 2 days ago, so please read the latest page or keep an eye on the trac, it's rather boring to keep saying the same thing over and over again.

For the pixel aspect ratio, we'll need to investigate, but it's clearly not our top priority right now Wink

EDIT: By the way, my last test with Haali shown no problem. What are yours?

Eh?..whatHuh?...you've lost me Seb - I asked about the FPS and auto refresh issue...Oo The Trac only shows changes that have been comitted, rather than how it's comming along with resolving the issue...

Just asked a question mate.

I know, and I told you to give us some time. I've answered some of the other question above in the same post, that's why I said to look at the trac if an issue is solved before reporting here (like http://trac.xbmc.org/changeset/29061)

- finikm - 2010-04-08

Hi everyone. Since this is my first post here, I 'll take some time to thank both Tiben/Seb for the hard work, as well as everyone helping in the debugging of dsplayer.

A quick question, pretty much to everyone (since is not a dsplayer-specific question):

Have anyone managed to get correct mkv playback with hd sound (true-hd or dts-ma for example) bitstreamed to an av-receiver? If yes, which splitter do you use?

Since I can bitstream DD/DTS without any problems, but sound and no image on files with the hd sound, I suspect that the problem might be the splitter. Right now I am using mkvsource/mkvsplitter (iirc, since I 'm not at home to check it) on r28980.

No problem mate - appreciate that - was just looking for confirmation on where the problem lay in light of the previous comment made that it was an ffdshow problem. At the moment I just use zoom when video playing to achieve the correct AR - no big deal. I know you'll add to the already long list of 'to do's' and address it when you have the time Smile

blinkseb Wrote:I know, and I told you to give us some time.

I see...ok. I was not pushing - just wanted to know how it was going, and if there is anything else that I/anyone can do to help further.

Anyways - keep up the good work.

I can only speak to the ffdshow's AR (sar/par/dar). If I configure MPC to use ffdshow for x264 decoding, it will display incorrect aspect ratios when Dar and Sar have conflicting values. There is a fix for this under VMR but not for EVR.

Your example shows the Dar and Sar having different values

Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Original display aspect ratio : 5:4

Setup MPC or MPC-HC (under options/internal filters, disable any H264 filters), make ffdshows x264 decoder the highest priority and you will see that the AR is not displayed correctly.

Actually, although it might not seem like it at times, you *DO* make us all very happy with your hard work and continued interest and diligence in this project.

Seriously.

...That said, is there any hope to fix the tearing that's been there since any build after 28016 on WinXP (and possibly just lower end integrated video cards?), or is that the end of it? Not sure why it's become such a long-standing problem when it never existed before.

When I go to play a movie, all I get is a black screen. CPU usage seems to jump up. If a wait a while, I might hear some sound. XBMC becomes unresponsive. I then have to bring up task switcher to kill XBMC.

try this..If you installed the latest ffdshow [31/Mar/2010],
start/programfiles/ffdshow/dxva video decoder configuration

There is an item on the left side of the window called 'Hardware Acceleration'.
you need to check the H264 the checkbox.
