MKV doesn't play video - only audio - ClayM - 2010-01-29

Any way I can troubleshoot this?

I've got a MKV with both audio and video. It plays on my Win7 PC via Media Player Classic Home Theater.

When I try starting it, only the audio plays.

Any idea what might be wrong and how I can fix it?

Yep, start there, it's the only way anyone can help you.

1. Version: 9.11 (xbmcfreak's nvidia ion build, also happened with normal 9.11 Live)
2. Distro: Ubuntu 9.10
3. Architecture: i686
4. Install method: Live install
5. XBMC Revision: 9.11 R26018
6. To reproduce: Navigate to video, press play
7. Log: http://pastebin.com/m6d604293

Playback:
1. V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC via MKV
2. A_AC3 via MKV

Anything else that might be helpful? This runs in other media player (on a win7 machine)

Any ideas? This is pretty bizarre.

Hi

I hade similar the same problems with my Netbox 330i. I had 512mb Memory installed, if i played a mkv there was only the subtitles no movie, and for me no sound because the sound is not working. I have upgraded the system Memory to 2GB now, and MKV is playing perfect and smooth and works great, probably this can help you to fix the issue.

cheers phantomd

according to the log your files are either malformed or using features vdpau does not support.

phantomd: I've got 2GB installed Sad

spiff: weird, they are part of a series of stuff, 90% of which works. they play on a win7 system using MPC.

I also tried re-muxing the file, that didn't help.
