Is there a bug with the DXVA2 builds? Whenever my computer wakes from sleep and I play my MKV's or avi's there seems to be a weird speed up about every 5 seconds. It's just noticeable.

I have three HTPC's each with a different DXVA2 build and they all do this.

The only way I can get the XBMC to play normally again is to reboot the machine.

Does this happen to anyone else?

I have had the same issue aswell, I would describe it as some kind of micro stutter. I really irks me since I can play the same clips through mpc-hc just fine. I tried going back to an older revision and still the same issue.

I've never seen this happen myself but turn on debugging a post a log to help the devs troubleshoot.

I have never done a debug log. What do I need to turn on and what file do I post?

Also to make the log should I first play the movie, then shut it down (which puts my computer to sleep), then turn it back on and then replay the movie? Would this produce the log needed to debug it?

I also have Boxee and it seems to play it back normally after waking up however I don't like Boxee's interface.

Also I have two HTPC's using Nvidia and one using ATI. They both do the same thing.

Let me know if that is what I need to do to make a log.

Stuttering and spped ups - waltermalter - 2010-08-10

I experienced the some stuttering and "speed ups" with the nightly build xbmc-r32628-Dharma.exe from Aug, 9th 2010. I tried to downgrade but the stuttering remains. Playing with the sync-options seems to solve this issue.

Never the less, I've noticed a utilization of about 15 percent of XBMC.exe even if XBMC is just doing nothing and should be idle.

The systems runs Windows 7 x64 on an i3-530 CPU with 4 GB of Ram.
It has a fresh OS installation. Graphic drivers have been installed from Intel dated 22.07.2010 and version 15.17.9.64.2182) along with chipset drivers (again directly from Intel). No other drivers have been installed. No codex or anything, just XBMC. The only additional SW on the system is Opera (10.60) and iMon (iMON/iMEDIAN HD 7.90.0702 Official Version with support for XBMC). I did not install iMedianHD, just iMon.

I wanted the system to be as clean as possible so I haven't installed any other players (e.G. MPC-HC or what ever) to check whether they play smooth or not. An older build that has been on the same hardware before I reinstalled the OS ran just fine, even without "playing" with the sync-options.

Cheers,
Walter

Video only half screen - Tartifless - 2010-08-22

Hello,

It's been 3 nightly builds where I can see an old issue coming back.
When DXVA is activated, HD content will play only in the left part of the screen.

A track with all logs already exists for this issue but is closed. It seems the issue is back again.

Here is the ticket:

Tartifless, what's the last nightly that worked correctly?

qubilist, ricanmeng, unfortunately my computer blue screens when coming out of sleep and I can't test this.

I was having stuttering problems (randomly - almost like frame drops - but none listed) - and on forwarding etc it would go into "slow-stuttery" mode until you went back to the XBMC menu, and then back into the film.

worked it out last night - it was the full screen as a window option that was causing it

now set to proper full screen and no issues at all Smile

i did exactly the same thing - http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=79186

shame that at 24hz, the sound is async with proper fullscreen.

Hi,

is there something broken with music visualization selection in the latest builds?

My problem is: I have a preset pack, I copied it to the same folder where the other preset packs are located, but XBMC doesn't find them, I cannot select them in the visualization menu. I only see the two default visualization packs in that menu, but not the additional ones I copied there. Can you please check that?

Edit: to teproduce that, just download any other preset pack, for example this one:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=24616

Then copy it to the visualization folder in XBMC; where the other visualization packs are located.
Try to select the new visualization pack in the XBMC visualization configuration menu, it won't appear there.

Thanks alot.

off topic but here you go.
Visualizations are addons now. Presets for milkdrop have to be placed in xbmc/addons/visualization.milkdrop/presets

Thanks, but confusingly, I do not have that folder. Do I have to create it? Where does XBMC look for the two default preset packs, which I can see in the visualization options?

The point is: I have searched through my whole XBMC folder, and the only folder that contains WA51-presets(265).zip (one of the two packs that are displayed in the visualization options) is XBMC\visualisations\Milkdrop
Logically, I should be able to put other preset packs there as well, but XBMC does not find them.

Is there any information on that topic available? I cannot find anything useful in the Wiki.

- WiSo - 2010-09-01

if you don't have this folder you don't use dharma.
Information will be posted once we official release it. All svn's or beta's are for advanced users only which know the forum and are up to date.
