Im using my laptop connected to my tv to play my xbmc now i have the offical xbmc remote app for my galaxy s3 but would like a to use a windows media remote but im having a difficult time finding one compatible with windows 8

What exactly do you mean by a "windows media remote"? Are you referring to a physical remote control device or a remote control app that runs on a Windows PC, tablet or phone?

If you are looking for IR MCE remote then HP remote and receiver is very good.
