After running and updating xbmc several times sucessfully for more than a year now - I finally manged to screw my installation.
So I did a fresh install from the current linux live cd 10.1.
Everything worked fine and I was very happy to find that the remote now did work without having to fiddle with lirc. But now I got a problem - I'd like to assign some keys and I do not now how to do it.
I tried to get the keys by running:
irw /dev/lircd
But it shows NO keystrokes when I'm hitting my remote.
Before I resort to doing again what I did with my previous installation
(which was very complicated and included editing /lib/udev/rules.d/50-private.rules and /etc/default/inputlirc) - I wondered if a friendly soul would be able to help me.
My remote is a simple ms-tech remote that came with my htpc enclosure.
How do I find out:
- What keystrokes my my remote is sending
- Which device to edit in Lircmap.xml
Help would be highly apreciated.
