ATV2 4.2.1 XBMC Crashings
#1
I'm having some odd crashings using XBMC to my media server. The server is running via PS3 Media Server. Please let me know if I need to include anything else. I have updatebegone, remote HD, syslogd, and OpenSSH installed in nito.tv.

I hasn't mattered what kind of media I'm playing and it stays on for about 30 minutes before killing the XBMC process. XBMC will stay loaded as long as I'm not watching a video.

I have added the host blocks to my hosts file.

Here's my infos:
AppleTV2:
Darwin Apple-TV 11.0.0 Darwin Kernel Version 11.0.0: Thu Feb

S/W version:4.2.1 (2100)

XBMC PRE-11.0 Git:20110818-091397a (Compiled : Aug 19 2011)

Installed with dpkg -i latest_atv2.deb from http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/darwin...r-atv2.deb

Logs (wiped them before I got this latest crash):

xbmc.log - http://pastebin.com/vUfB7xgc
syslog - http://pastebin.com/nhPTkc7v
crashreporter - http://pastebin.com/pzELi0Qd

Thanks for your time and help!

Updated to IOS 4.3 8F455 and using xbmc-20110903-c1d2bb6-master-atv2.deb

Crashings are less often however they are still occurring.
I've blocked hosts from the install FAQ

Can anyone tell me why it was happening before so I can might be able to figure out if it's happening for the same reason?

Your syslog shows all sorts of strange crashes from non-xbmc things. I'd almost say there's something very wrong with the jailbreak. I'd re-jailbreak with Seas0nPass and start again.

Sounds good. I'm gonna re-jailbreak it, wipe the logs and try again.

For my Reference:
-Reinstalled Seas0nPass
-fixed hosts file to block Apple updates
-Installed NitoTV
-Installed XBMC from NitoTV

Going to start some long videos and see if it crashes.

looks cleaner now, I'd try a nightly.

Sounds good to me! Any nightly in particular? I hear Aug 30 is a good one. I'm reading that I need to run the rm -r /Applications/XBMC.frappliance command before I install a nightly on 4.3. Is that still correct?

"find /Applications/XBMC.frappliance -delete" works better Smile

I found CTRL+C got past the hanging in the dpkg command and allowed the removal script in the new .deb nightly package to be run (which ran successfully)... i.e. so no need to do the "rm" or the "find".

yes, either or. I do the find because I'm not installing via debs when developing.
