Sup guys!
I just got this new Microsoft ARC Keyboard
to replace my Rii Mini that ended up not working very well,,,
actually, it never worked great form the beginning,,,
So i managed to sell it $50 and got myself a new wireless keyboard!
Microsoft ARC Keyboard Looks real nice
and is fairly small and really compact!
the keyboard is just barely one foot wide,,,
very light too, weighing less than a pound!
It's powered by two AAA batteries (included)
and connects to your computer via a tiny nano RF receiver.
so far so good!
it hasn't missed a key press!
yoo hoo!!!!!!!
Anyhow, here's a mini review for all to enjoy!
#1. USB dongle needs to be in front of HTPC at least for me...
but dont get me wrong here,
you dont have to point at it like if you had an IR Remote..
you can be anywhere on the room and it'll just work!
#2. you dont really know if the keyboard is ON or OFF
till you try to type something,,,
i mean, there's no green light that stays on 4ever...
once you PowerON the keyboard using ESC+FN
light turns green, but vanishes after a bit,,,
so you like, ok, is this thing ON or OFF??
but i guess its a battery saving feature...
its not that bad though, you can just leave it ON 24/7
and then change batteries when they die,,,
I saw a user review online that said the batteries that came with the keyboard
lasted him almost 3 months....
#3. By mistake, if you hit the 'Caps Lock' key,
there's no way for you to know until you actually start typing and notice the Cap letters...
The 'Cap Lock' mode doesn't have a light indicator....
but again, might be a battery saving feature...
#4. takes sometime to get used to the bottom right arrow keys,
but never the less, its not a turn off at all,,,
it actually works really great!
but if your a gamer, it'll be a turn off 4sure,,,
#5. Dont really buy it if your thinking in holding it in your hand and thumb type,,
although very small, slim and very compact, its not meant for that at all..
its really meant for sitting on your Lap or couch....
but i guess some will still use it in air....
I've tried it myself and, i've actually gotten pretty good at it
#6. Not sure how far you can go for RF reception..
seems you cant go extremely far from your HTPC..
but overall, range is decent enough for me...
My couch is approximately ~15' from my HTPC and,
I haven't has a single issue with reception!!
#7. extremely glossy piano black finish,
looks really good, but its a fingerprint magnet lol
OverAll, not because i own it, but,
i truly believe its one of the BEST HTPC Keyboard one can get!
but i think its a matter of 2 things, if your a gamer or if you want a
keyboard u can hold in your hand and thumb type, then,
this isnt for you,,,
but for the rest, man, at $35 at buy.com,
its simply an amazing keyboard to have!
+1
