Thank you for the list. Looks like I could have got away with the lower speed quad core, not much CPU mark difference between them. 5455 vs 5815

Do you think these could be underclocked, undervolted to save on energy when not needed? Either way I will fully explore that when it ships Smile

Edit: maybe put the speed of the chips in the list as well?

well i dont know Tongue
too new Tongue

but yeah, i mean,
i wanted to do this list to have an objective view
of the performance/price ratio of all these new APU's,,,

thats why i like that A6-3500 65W APU so much!
its like only $19 more then the A4-3400
but CPU MARK gains a ~73% boost!! (1765 --> 3054)
and it has twice more Stream Cores!! (160 --> 320)

from an HTPC point of view,
thats exceptional Value to me!

I'm reading some reviews on Newegg for this particular APU line, and one reviewer says he lowered the vcore from the default of 1.4 down to 1.2 and it ran much cooler for him, yet kept it stable. I like the scalability assuming it's legit.

So from what i understand,
the new APU's stream processors are spec'ed this way:

A4-3xxx = (160 stream processors)
A6-3xxx = (320 stream processors)
A8-3xxx = (400 stream processors)

but honeslty,
from what i can see,
and specially HTPC wise,
that A6-3500 is simply amazing value!!

Agreed, I can't argue with that. So many times I contemplated today cancelling the quad core and going with your recommendation, but I held out, and now it's shipped lol.

As long as I can underclock/volt what I bought to match the tri-core speeds at the tri-core power consumption, then I have a future proof solution for just a little more cash.

Wish me luck, and I love this thread.

I'm very enthusiastic about this new APU line.

eskro,

This is handy, it would also be handy to provide TDP and expected power draw on these processors, as it will factor into people's decision making.

TDP is there!
