I'm fairly experienced with XBMC and linux in general, but I am getting quite the headache troubleshooting this.
Fresh install of 10.04, installed everything in basically the order of this guide: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBM...stall_XBMC
I am using NVidia restricted drivers (185). The system worked fine until I installed the xbmc-live package.
After installing it I logged in as the 'xbmc' user and was able to launch `xinit xbmc-standalone` no problems. However when I reboot the system Ubuntu always comes up in low graphics mode and wants me to reconfigure the graphics.
It *appears* that however xbmc-live is launching X, it is using a failsafe config. I tried moving the failsafe config and it just gets re-created.
Here are the relevant bits of syslog from the last reboot, Xorg.0.log and Xorg.failsafe.log: https://gist.github.com/1295385
thanks
EDIT: Also I do realize that xbmc-live is not intended for full desktop Ubuntu. However, since this guide is found on the wiki I thought it could be followed without major issues.
