I have over 400 blu rays ripped onto my server, and trawling through the movies can be a bit of a drag. Is there anyway to browse by the genre, for example if my wife wants to watch a comedy?

It used to work well using Windows Media Centre and MyMovies, and i hope it can be done using XBMC

You need todo a bit of searching the forum, different skins can do different things. As a starting point my Confluence mod can browse by genre.

all skins can browse by genre. in the lhs you have a 'flatten video library' or thereabout setting. disable that, use the 'videos' rather than the movies button and see and behold.
