yes all plugged ok,,

uhm, can u link me to the RAM u bought exactly thx

It's Corsair Vengeance, 2x4GB, DDR3-1866, [email protected]

The shop doesn't have it listed anymore. But it's on the compatibility list of the MoBo.

funny is, when I unplug the 4-PIN CPU Power Connector on the board the fans don't go on and off... but still no picture on the display.

I mean if I start the device the first time BIOS should show up, right?

thats what i wanted to triple check...

well, this puzzles me and i hate to think that the 120w brick isnt enough.

its impossible...

i mean, seeing on a power consumption test done here http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1655/2/
the 120w brick should cut it!

check the W when the APU was put under stress.
its like 135W.
but hey, test system was a microATX motherboard with an 850W PSU!
its unREAL.
your system consumes wayyy less!!!!!
do u happen to have another PSU at home?

just to try it out.

lets see if your motherboard is ok or not

What you mean another PSU?

I have only the ones I bought. I mean those two bricks I bought. The cheap one with 120W and the expensive one with 125W. The behaviour is the same with both these bricks. And of course the one that came with the case (the 65W one).

Or do I missunderstand you?

The main power cord consists of 24 Pins, right? I have to plug them all in? Because I can separate the last four Pins from the rest...

By the way... I have the A8-3850 processor not the A6-3650... but I wrote that a couple of threads ago. But they are both 100W so it shouldn't matter, right?

yes put all 24 pins....
but honestly, even 20pin would do Tongue

im saying, if you have another computer at home,
you could use its power supply on your ISK300...

just to test is it boots.

I don't know but I would guess that I need a brick that serves contiuous 6.3A at 19V and not one that only serves continous 5.75 A and only at peaks 6,5 A.

But I am totally no specialist when it comes to electrics.

Sorry I don't have another computer. Only Notebooks available here...

and heck he's even using his 65w brick as we speak!!

i dont get why his wouldnt work.

i mean, even the ISK110 and its 80w PSU works with the A6-3500...
Non of that matter, because we are dealing with a more powerful A8-3850/HD6550D APU.....

greets
You might not be happy with the PSU in Antec ISK 300-150 either, because most of the users complains about the PSU being weak.....

another question... does this case have a built in speaker? I mean a system speaker that beeps when something is wrong or that does not beep?
I cannot find a plug for a speaker only the HD-Audio plug. And this I plug into the HD-Audio connectors on the mobo.

The system does not beep at all. And from what I read after googleing most PCs have such a system speaker.

Okay, I made some more tests now... I tore everything apart again. Except CPU and CPU fan. Made a CMOS reset and took the battery out. After waiting some minutes I plugged the 24 pin powercord into the mobo and also the 4 pin ATX power cord. Case fan not plugged in. Started the PC without RAM....

Result: The CPU fan does NOT turn on and off again just runs smoothly. But still no picture or BIOS on the display. (I suppose this is normal without RAM plugged in?)

Turned the computer off and plugged one RAM module at a time. Startet the PC again with 1 RAM module...

Result: the CPU fan turns on and off again. And still no picture of BIOS on the display. Same result with 2 RAM modules plugged in. I also tried single modules in different slots. Same result.

Conclusion: As soon as I have RAM modules plugged in the CPU fan turns on and off again. So, what does that mean?

- Are the RAM modules defective? (My guess: no -> would be very weird if both modules were defective at the same time. tried both in single use)
- Does the computer has not enough power to run both CPU and RAM at the same time? (My guess: most likely... :-( )
- Mobo defective? (No guess from my side)
- Something else? (More no guess from my side)

I also never hear any system beep as mentioned before. Still don't know if the case has a system speaker and if yes how to turn it on/plug it in.

So if it is really the brick that is not strong enough what should I do? I was looking all over the market in Switerland and I bought the best and most expensive brick available (the 19V 125W for an incredible 120 bucks). There is no other brick available here that I could buy. eskro's suggested 135W brick from ebay is not shipped to Switzerland unless someone of you guy buys it for me and sends it to me!? :-) and then I can just hope that this will work then.

Other solution... step back and try and buy a CPU with less power consumption (65W)... but I would like the have the AMD 6550 GPU power... maybe I find a used A8-3820 somewhere since new one's are not available anymore...

Oh man if I had known about all this trouble in advance... Undecided

Any experiences, advice?

Appreciate it.

sometimes i feel your not reading stuff i post..

check on this link here

http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1655/2/

i went through the same discussions with Beer40 right before bought his ISK300-65 case,,,

at first he bought an 120w brick, then he got the 90w (which works with his system)

and finally, he ends up simply using his stock 65w brick that came with his case....

again, the 120w brick should be enough to handle the A8-3850 under HTPC use...

u'll never stress your APU as Prime95 and FURMARK do...

see this image

Image

clearly shows how much power the a75m-itx + A8-3850 consumes under stress (while playing games)....

and its under 120w...

so i can only imaging how much lower it'll be if u simply play 1080P via XBMC.

no not you Jarjar72 Tongue

im just saying to bluray that i know what i say Smile

the problem is that u dont have another desktop computer at home
which u can use to grab its PSU and try it on your ISK300...

thats where i am...

i mean, your right, Computer stuff is very unlogical sometimes...

but trying with another PSU would seal it and reveal all.

think a friend could help you with that?
