XBMC problems with Apple TV2
#1
I’ve jail broken my apple TV with atvflash. Ive installed XBMC both by terminal and through nitoTV, both ways give the same result. When I click on xbmc it keeps crashing, the screen goes blank then comes back to the main apple screen. Ive disabled apple updates by this script

echo "127.0.0.1 appldnld.apple.com" >> /etc/hosts
echo "127.0.0.1 mesu.apple.com" >> /etc/hosts
echo "127.0.0.1 appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net" >> /etc/hosts
echo "" >> /etc/hosts
reboot

but it resets the apple TV and I have to jail break it again. Ive updated nito TV; ive disabled the firecore media player.

Im running the latest version of iSO which is jailbroken. Ive tried all the options in this thread;

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=116414

but to no luck. It still keeps crashing and going back to the main apple screen.

Ive research the forum and searched Google before posting but have had no luck in finding a solution. Any help on how to get XBMC to work would be awesome.

which iOS are you using?

ATVflash should default back to 4.3

the fact that you say you have to jailbreak again, sound like you could be using 4.4.3

i would be sure to delete all databases {Music, Movies, etc.}

good luck! keep at it.

I am using iOS 4.43 - the lastest one, and all databases have been deleted.Sad

You should not need to re-jb it. You should only need to do a tethered boot.

Provide a xbmc.log

most of your crashes are after this;

Quote:Dec 9 18:11:53 Apple-TV AppleTV[638]: -[__NSCFString _getValue:forType:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x10dc6e70
Dec 9 18:11:56 Apple-TV com.apple.frontrow[638]: AppleTV(638,0x3f9edce8) malloc: *** error for object 0x4d4d00: pointer being freed was not allocated

I don't see xbmc in the backtrack. Smells like a bad jailbreak;
