Hi everyone!

I saw the new XBMC logo and started thinking....
We shoud start giving XBMC the name credits it deserves!!

My personal opinion is that XBMC has grown out to be the worlds no. 1 free mediacenter. No ties with xbox anymore.

So why not call XBMC --> MC (leave out the XB part)
I think that is what this medacenter deserves. It is THE best MC i've come accross.

So when you boot is just says:

MC
MEDIA CENTER

What you you people think of this?

Looks to much like Microsoft Media Center
Just keep XBMC. Every one knows it like that now.

Now you have a well distinguished name.

XBMC is a name that everyone is familiar with, change the name and people will just think it XBMC is dead.

There is no need to change.

Something also tells me that there may soon be more people who do not really know or care what the XB actually stands for than those who do, which means it's "just a known brand/product, meaning/background is lost and insignificant" (just as with plenty other companies or brands out there).

that is also a tactic used in the business world to gain more/new "customers"/users.

If done correctly it could certainly gain more users. More users could bring more donors. More potential donors could mean faster development...

Thats alot of if's and could's. I agree that the name no longer suits the criteria.

It's XBMC. What the heck is a Plex? What is a Boxee? The name of this software is XBMC. It 'means' nothing any more.

The XBMC team, plug-in devs, skinners, etc. do this for us for FREE in their spare time because they want to. Think about that for a second before you start bitching...

We should change the name. That way the developers can spend their time doing string changes instead of Eden, audioengine, pvr, android, etc. While they're doing that they can port to the PS3. Rolleyes
