Please help. I've been running 10.1 without any issues for quit some time. I've installed Eden 11.0 Beta 1 and it immediately crashes on startup. I've backed up my profile and even wiped and reinstalled Eden fresh with no profile and it still has this problem. I've looked to the logs but nothing seems to stand out. Any assistance would be appreciated. Below is my log. Thank you.

Comparing my log with yours, the next bit of the log is the video initialisation:

This suggests a problem with the video drivers. I note you're using a GeForce 6200, which is quite an old video card, though as far as I know it should work.

I agree. The 6200 is a little old, but I've had no issues whatsoever with Dharma 10.1. This is what confuses me. Eden and all the beta versions up to it crash consistently upon startup. But once I remove and reinstall Dharma, everything works flawlessly. By the way to any devs, being able to reinstall and plop my database back in is awesome! I would truly hate to have to completely reconfigure everything.

jhsrennie: If there is any other logs that can provide useful information for me to debug, I would gladly appreciate the info. As far as I know it just the main log, but I do see crash dumps, but they are not in text. Thanks again.

Tried Eden beta on my old secondary computer and this also crashes immediately on startup. This has been annoying but not serious because as I say it is not my main media system and is used for just general stuff. This too has a 6200 and also worked fine with Dharma. Something has changed in Eden that causes an issue with the 6200 series cards even with the latest drivers. Just hope that when the RC arrives and I stick it on the main system there won't be such an issue.

Thank you for testing this out. I'm glad to know it's at least not a fluke on my part. As an additional test, I've installed it on a system with a 7600GS and have not had any issues. Unfortunately the 7600GS is too large to fit into my mediabox

My main problem, as many on the forums have had, is low volume on the dialogue track causing me to constantly adjust the TV volume. I know that Eden has basic dynamic range compression included, which is the only real reason I would update at this point. If anyone can assist me in incorporating this into Dharma 10.1 or provide any other assistance, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks again for your assistance.

Hi,

i have opened a bug on this or lets say a quite similar issue:

Fortunately i was able to solve this myself by building an own version of xbmc. It is sufficient just to exchange the exe file in the installation dir of eden.

Please note:
I have used git version from the margro repo not the main xbmc branch. This means the exe comes with MediaPortal support. For more info on that look here http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...ediaPortal
I did not alter a single byte of the source code! Furthermore the prebuilds over there did not work for me either.

I have uploaded the file to zshare: they deleted the file, see post #8 for another link
I have checked the file at virustotal.com and none of the 43 virus scanners reported anything suspicious. Nevertheless in case you want to try the file yourself: YOU DO THIS COMPLETELY AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Just unzip the file, rename your original xbmc.exe to xbmc.bak or something and put the unzipped file in the installation dir.

Same problem here. Dharma worked fine. Eden crashes at start up. Tested in windows 7 and xp pro. 6200 series card. Would love to get this going, have 4 other computers sharing database and source files on a diskstation. Works great.

I have successfully installed Beta 3 and the posted xbmc.exe and I am now able to launch XBMC! Thank you very much for providing that fix. I have also successfully tested the dynamic range compression and can now watch videos without constantly changing the volume with the remote!!!!!!! Yeah. The latest version does seem sluggish at times, but that's a small tradeoff. I have further tweaking to do. To anyone having the older Geforce crash, I would recommend the previous fixed EXE posted by midas. Thanks again everyone.
