Will the Broadcom Crystal HD BCM970012 work with Apple tv or do i need to get the BCM970015. Just asking cause the 970012 is a third the price as the other.

The 12 will work and isn't bad at all. Either card brings new life to the ATV1.
Differences between the two:

I've gone to all BCM970015s and haven't turned back. Sometimes they go on sale at logicsupply for $30 (normally $40)
But at $15 for the 12, even if you decide to get the better one later, that's not so bad. You could easily chuck the 12 on ebay for $10 as used.

How does this work with Atv2...if at all? Will it improve performance like on the Atv1? Was kinda hesitant about Atv until I saw this thread. I couldnt deal with sluggish XBMC performance on any frontend machine I own......thanks!

You can't install the card in an ATV2
The XBMC team, plug-in devs, skinners, etc. do this for us for FREE in their spare time because they want to. Think about that for a second before you start bitching...

Personally I have tried both and the seeking issues with the 12 suck - the 15 is definitely worth it.
Addons I wrote &/or maintain:
OzWeather (Australian BOM weather) | Check Previous Episode | Playback Resumer | Unpause Jumpback | XSqueezeDisplay | (Legacy - XSqueeze & XZen)
Sorry, no help w/out a
*full debug log*.
