New to HTPC

Hello all,

I new to the whole HTPC scene. Ive been either streaming from PS3 or 360 for the past 2 years and becoming quite sick of the poor streaming capabilities of the 360 and sick of chiavai always popping up on the sony.

I am looking at building my own HTPC using this case from http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.ph...1&area=usa. Im considering installing ubunta with XBMC but have no linux experience but will give it a crack. heard this was faster and better than just installing XBMC over windows.

The build i want is on the cheap and would like some recommendations for an SSD and motherboard. Want the motherboard to have HDMI with inbuilt graphics.

Currently all shows are on my main pc but will later have a server set up.

All help appreciated

So after doing some research below is what i have put together for my new htpc.

AMD A6 3500 Triple Core Fusion $79.00
OCZ Agility 3 60GB SSD $95.00
ASRock A75M-ITX Motherboard $95.00
G.Skill Ripjaws F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM (2x2GB) DDR3 $35.00

All prices are in AUD

Any recommendations for Heat Sink, Internal Fan and PSU? Also looking at other cases so if any one has any recommendations love to see them!

Cheers

change you ram.
they have high heatsinks,
will interfere with Low Profile CPU coolers.

were not so hype about OCZ SSD's.
history of BSOD since they use the SandForce controller.
yeah there's a fix but,
some still get BDSO's...
Stick to CRUCIAL M4 or PATRIOT TORQX2 SSD.s...

best CPU cooler is the SCYTHE BIG SHURIKEN v2 ...

For PSU, Seasonic are best.
