Best Hardware for XBMC (replacement for broken Asrock330)
#1
Hi,

today my Asrock330 ion died :/

Kernel errors even while reinstalling XBMCUBUNTU or other distributions.

It worked now everyday since i bought the device...

But it seems i need an replacement.

I did not follow the hardware market in the last month...are there recommendations to buy a hw platform to run XBMC ?

Some things would be great:

1. not too much manual changes needed to get it running
2. built in IR
3. silent cooling, ( living room Smile )
4. if possible beeing able to run sabnzbd + sickbeard + couchpotato (should normally be no problem, but normally should even be possible to run those on my laptop, right ?! or MUST the be online 24/7 ?!)

Would be great if you could point me to some recommendations!

Edit : AppleTV seems really great... but if i recall correctly: Appletv2 is only 720P, and AppleTV3 can play 1080, but is not ready yet for xbmc, right ?!)

Correct - ATV3 is not ready. I ordered a black ATV from Amazon, thinking it is 2nd-gen, only to realize that ATV3's looks exactly the same as ATV2's and there is no physical differences except for looking at serial number on the bottom.

Been trying to jailbreak it for awhile (when I still didn't know it is an ATV3), went to forums, and that was when I realized I bought an ATV3.

But there has been some recent developments: http://www.appletvhacks.net/2012/04/18/f...jailbreak/

No idea if that means "work is underway" to figure out how ATV3 can be exploited, or if that means they see how it can be exploited and is working on how to make it easy for community to do the same (release a solution online).

The challenges is that the so-called "space" to exploit the new-gen ATV3 is much harder because there's no services, browser, etc: http://www.ijailbreak.com/jailbreak/why-...jailbreak/
