Win ANTEC ISK110 A6-3500 BUILD
#16
well yeah, the MeORB cooler is 47mm.

stock A6-3500 cooler is 40mm...

ISK110 has around ~7mm more clearance compared to the ISK100.

i prefer the MeORB still,
im just afraid that the Scythe SCKZT-1000 ends up being noisy..
it holds an 80mm fan while MeORB uses an 92mm fan.

so you tell me voruxis,
how quiet is the MeORB cooler?

and, can u take a close pic of the MeORB touching the top of case when closed?

thanks alot my friend Smile

You and Beer are driving me crazy with your 80mm (smaller fan) being noisier than 120mm (bigger fan)....

It's not true with your favorite Scythe CPU coolers.....here are the numbers

1. Scythe SCKZT-1000 80mm- 8.2 ~ 32.5dBA
2. Scythe SCSK-1100 100mm- 10.5 ~ 31.67dBA
3. Scythe SCBSK-2100 120mm- 9.32 ~ 33.67 dBA

It can be said about the ceiling fan too.....I installed 15 ceiling fans at my previouse home. The fans are 48", 60", 72", etc.....the 72" fans (mini-helicopter propeller size) made the most noise at top speed.....

After setting the target speed level to 1 and leaving target temperature to 50 F in bios meorb is very quiet and cpu stays around 44 deg F when installing drivers and updates in windows. When set to max speed it was making some noice, but my laptop was probably louder then then it (ASUS G73J).

The angle on that photo is not too good, and if I take one at a sharper angle you can't really see anything. Thermatake is touching the cover on the right side (opposite side from memory) only - it's not really siting straight. That's because the aluminum fins are only mounted to the copper rod at the bottom that's bent in a circle.

Even though the noise level is minimal and it does fit in this case I'm not sure if I really like this cooler. The fins are kept even distance from the fan by this flat steel ring. The lower green arrow in the image below points to where the fins are sited on the ring. As you can see this is only an L shaped cutout on the fins so if you press from the top too hard it just falls from the ring. It would be nicer if the fins had something more like C shaped cutout which would keep it in place better.

The case comes with both vesa bracket and a stand:

Let me know if you want any other photos, because I'm taking this htpc to my parents later today.

You did a very nice job Voruxis.......

The nice thing about your case is that the entire left case cover have good ventilation......it don't need much to keep the CPU cool......you'r probably can get by with the original CPU cooler with fan speed at 1.....

Thanks. This build is for my parents, I'm still on hacked atv2. I'll wait for trinity cpus, they're supposed to be even cooler and try stock cooler at level one like you propose. It's a really nice case and they don't really get any smaller then this Smile

Will keep this cooler on this build for now. Hopefuly the fins don't fall if no one opens the case.

Yes but that 1000 80mm wont keep the CPU cool as the others.... and trust me blu it will be louder because it will need more rpm's to keep it cool.... the others don't they dont have to struggle. Nod

at least we drive u somewhere blu LoL

ok back to business, so, think u can give us temp reads?

like at idle and under stress like playing a 1080p?

also, i think its sad that a nice cooler like the MeORB has fin issues like that.

i mean, couldnt they make it right? that the hell...

most will use the case on the stand. now what. fins will fall! :/

i wonder about the noise too...

think u could make a vid? Tongue

I was going to trust you on it, but the other guy can keep his A6 cool with fan level at 1......when fan level is set at 1, it shouldn't rev up rpm....

Is it possible that your Meorb got damage during shipping? I installed one in a friend computer late last year. It looked more even than the one in your picture......
