Win Disable auto read DVD drive
#1
Hi,

I'm trying to work out how to stop XBMC from polling the DVD at start up, or when a new DVD is inserted. I never watch films from the DVD, but rip first and then watch. As a result if another program is trying to access to the drive, it will take some time before XBMC starts and the other program can read the drive successfully. Sometimes up to 3 minutes. Killing either program takes a similar amount of time.

Thanks,

Richard

I suspect you've already discovered the settings>video>dvds>play dvd's automatically 'flag' XBMC seems to ignore the DVD when inserted with this flag. (just tested it)
but what you want is no sniffing...? I you can disable auto-mounting of the DVD drive in the operating system somewhere.

BTW: welcome to the forums...sorry it took so long to get back to you, but I had to dig deep for a DVD.

Disable it in W7 AutoPlay as shown below-

>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
