Android Hardware
Question
Hey guys,

I hope someone of Team-XBMC will read and answer this:

I know that XBMC on Android is still in developement and you don't recommend to make any purchases in anticipation of running XBMC on Android. I know I am a little bit impatient, but when can you make any recommendations relating hardware or at least name some precise points relating hardware? (Doesn't have to be an exact date. Just a point in time that me or anybody else can look forward too). Wink

june is a nice month I think

But thinking of it:

Will XBMC run propperly on existing boxes or better to wait for new ones?

I ask this because I read that a problem is the hardware acceleration.

Pivos XIOS DS is the box your looking for assuming you want something relatively stable, XBMC dev work for Pivos and the builds released are made for the XIOS and it's Android firmware. More importantly you get good tech support from Pivos, a lot of other boxes don't have anyone really backing them other than throwing them out there to sell.

@ Starstream: Thanks for the answers so far but:

1st: Pivos XIOS DS is more expensive than the ATV1200 in my country (the box i am looking for atm)
2nd: Pivos XIOS DS has less power than the ATV1200 (M3 vs M6/MX).

I know that Pivos XIOS DS is the developement target but if it would stay the developement target in future then Team-XBMC could say it but they don't and this behaviour makes me suspicious whether another (better) box will be the (next) developement target. Huh

@FIBO:

Any sources for that information? Wink

EDIT: I just want the most powerfull XBMC-Android-Box atm that just works.

That looks like just the ticket.. can't see amlogic mentioned anywhere though, so these could be rockchip?

Wel, this box is a rebranded Geniatech ATV1600. Concerning different sources it is a AML8726-MX.

Look at the start of the movie. Both boxes use the same SoC and it is a MX :-)

Hi,

I'm trying to find a store or site selling the atv1600...but up to now unsuccessfully...

I read this post and I would like to confirm if the iconbit Duos plus is really a rebranded atv1600 or atv1200...

Seeing an unboxing video on youtube, I couldn't see where the hdmi input port is... So I guess it is a 1200 one...

Does any one know where could I buy the 1600 version?

I'm searching the geniatech hardware due to the optical 5.1 passthrough, dual core and hdmi input feature...

If I can't find the 1600 one, so I'll buy the 1200...

This link shows an unbox video of the ATV1200, it shows more clearly all the ports and the android box itself.
I hope it will be useful for you!

The ATV1600 has just been released, so there are only a few companies who ordered the ATV1600 for now. The aim is to sell the android box around the end of March. This is the only information I have so far on the atv1600.

I bought an xbox mc2. Don't repeat my mistake. First let's talk about the poor quality. The Wi-Fi can connect sometimes at 150 but the actual data rate was at 53 initially but drops rapidly. To many errors to keep up that rate.would actually drop to 5 or less. Movies would freeze while it labored to get more. The first unit had a bad power supply and fried the unit. They sent me another unit although I had asked for money back. So I bought a Wi-Fi to ether net adapter. Although I couldn't max my ip speed it works good enough for 720p most of the time. It does not have built in Bluetooth I am using a dongle. I also bought a better power supply.
So with$200 I made it work sort of. No 1080 on the horizon.
Now software, because the software is not open sourced it is officially banned device by xbmc.
So I say don't buy an xbox midnight.

Xbox is a Microsoft trademark so I'm not surprised.
It shows how much care is needed.

Does anyone know if XBMC will work on the Huawei MediaQ M310 with the Hisilicon K3V2 Chip or what version would you suggest that I try. Any help would be appreciated. Regards

I doubt it, a quick Google search [though this can be inaccurate] says Hisilicon don't normally support libstagefright which is used by XBMC for Android for video decoding. If they do support it then there is a chance it might work but not at all guaranteed.

There was someone on these forums a good while back I think saying they were from Hisilicon asking about the Amlogic branch of XBMC which is separate from general Android XBMC but I've no clue if anything happened after that or could have been total baloney to begin with.

Thanks Starstream-I appreciate your input. I guess I will find out when it arrives and I test it out.
