When you turn off hardware acceleration and tell xbmc that the amp does not support ac3 and dts everything runs fine. But it sucks when you want to enjoy dolby. What's strange is the fact that it basically works fine. But if you play a multichannel audio source and then want to play for example an avi with mp3 sound the picture stutters and there's no sound. A restart of XBMC fixes this... until the next time you play a that kind of audio again. Must be some kind of bug I guess...

I've seen this sudden loss of mp3 tracks too. Will post a debug log if i can reproduce it.

no because you use some strange service instead something ipad compatible like pastebin.com

As i told you should use pastebin.com next time. I have transfered the file there and changed the link in your post.

As of your log file you have:

1. Input file with 4.1 stream
2. XBMC configured to 4.1
3. OSX midi setup for HDMI configured to 2.0

Change 3 to 4.1 and see if this solves the issue.

Well his is one example of your log file. But it is so messy you seem to have tried alot in there. I have no time for watching through all this.

I've been experiencing similar problems since upgrading to Mountain Lion both with the stable XBMC and the nightlies. Machine is a 2009 8-core Mac Pro. I'm using optical out to a receiver. Audio Midi settings for the optical port are set to 2.0, which can't be changed. XBMC is set to 5.1 audio, optical/coax, and use default output. Audio seems to work correctly for the first file I play. If I stop it or it finishes, the next video stutters at the beginning and then has no audio.

I've notice something interesting in the Audio Midi settings. Every time I start and stop a video, the output device changes. It starts with the little speaker icon beside the optical out and when I stop the video and play it again the speaker icon jumps to Airplay, then analog, etc. Eventually, no output device has an icon beside it.

Here's my xbmc.log: http://pastebin.com/tKFFYZDb

You don't need to delete the log. On each start there is a new xbmc.log generated. But spending 4 mins for generating a log to a bug report like this - just produces already a huge log. People should do it straight away. Start xbmc, reproduce the bug as fast as possible (but staying calm on that Wink ). Close xbmc. Post log.

Your logs are hard to read because you always test a dozens of files with multiple channel configurations. You should tell us what you did and what the audible result was. I can't do anything for you if you keep throwing that mess on me.

I will post a log later on today, i think i'm able to reproduce it every time i want.

In my case both audio midi setup and XBMC channel count is set to 2ch.

If you check my log, I only played two files and didn't change any settings. Perhaps it can be of use.

I give up.. only solution running nightly with no audio and picture stuttering is to set the xbmc to analog 2.0 audio, then everything is super!

Here's the log. http://pastebin.com/jgniprjQ

OSX set to 2ch, 16bit, 48KHz
XBMC set to 2ch, AC3, DTS and multichannel LPCM enabled.

In the log i first play Dictator with DTS track, stop it and launch some Amon Amarth with a mp3 track and there's no sound. AC3 and DTS still work fine, mp3 tracks require XBMC to be restarted to get them working again.
