Hi, I have noticed that my network drive (world book) supports NFS. As I am using raspbmc is the native unix networking faster?

Yes it might be - but read the NFS wiki link in my signature. The NFS Server needs to be configured in a "special" way for working with XBMC. If you can't configure this on your network drive - it won't work at all.

I use nfs over Ethernet as my media drive on a raid 1. Speeds for me seem to be fine. Sorry I don't have benchmarks, but the response time seems similar to a system drive. Getting it to stay mounted at boot was the tricky part for me. If you run into problems use mount option "nolock" in fstab
