Win XBMC don't updating Movie Database
#1
Hi,

my XBMC Installation on Windows 7 x64 SP2 don't update my movie database. If i copy a new movie to the share and manually update the database, the new movie will not be showing. If i delete the source and create/scrape it new, all movies will be shown.

I don't have the issue with music or tv shows. In the log file are no messages.

I'll hope you can help me.

Cheers.

Try turning on debugging in the system settings, retry the database update, and then check the log again - and also post it up here for some others to look at. Having more eyes on the problem may reveal something you didn't notice.

What is the name of the movie / dvd XBMC is not recognising?

Can you upload a debug of your log file for the original scenario.. i.e after you place file into the correct location and run the update, but before you remove the source and rescrape.

Hi,

the last time it was "Hackers" i. e.

Debug log is in my last post. Or is that the wrong one?

Need the debug log where it gives you the problem, not after you have taken steps to correct it.

Next time you try to import a movie and experience this issue post the debug log again and we can see if we can spot the issue.

I didn't do that. I don't clear the database and create it new for the log file! Thats is the problem. I don't see anything about scraping the new movies. For the log file above i rip one of my dvds to simulate the issue.

Ah ok now I understand... so you have ripped another of your dvd's called hackers and it's somewhere on your E: but XBMC is not recognising it.

Can you elaborate more on the folder structure of your E: ?

how are the movies stored? all in their own subfolders have you set the scraper to scan recursively?

Ahh my eyes... the OCD in me just had a spaz Big Grin

I used to have all my movies like this but it became a bit messy after a while so I used ember to move each movie into their own subfolders...

back to the topic.. can you take a screen shot of your scraper settings and post that up?

What advantages do i have, if i use one folder for the movie? As the number of items are the same.

I guess it's personal preference, for me I used to test different builds of XBMC, change things around and occasionally mess things up trying different things out... It became a pain to have to rescrape everytime I did a fresh install of XBMC.

Luckily with the export / import function you don't have to rescrape each time. but I prefer to have each move exported to a seperate file rather than have one massive .nfo file. Reason for this preference is if I want to edit the details manually for any particular movie, I don't have to browse through a file containing 100's of titles.

If you were to export to seperate files with your current structure you would add .nfo files for every title, on top of that you could end up with images for every title too.. this just becomes messy when you are dealing with 100's of titles.

back on topic..

Scraper looks ok, but I was meaning the settings from the settings button which you can see in your screenshot.

I had issues with the IMDB scraper quite a while ago and as a result I don't use it... I can't recall what that was but I use themoviedb.. at least that way if anything is wrong I can go and add or edit it on themoviedb site myself.

Do you have the year added to the end of the filename for the movie that wont add automatically?

Okay. Perhaps i'll change it to folders.

I had the same problems with themoviedb scraper. I'll give it a new try.

The settings of the imdb addon:

Edit:
I just saw, if i copy a new movie into on my drive and try to update the libary, xbmc will rapitly checking tv shows. In the popup there are no information about the movie db.

here something to try...

Remove the source and clean the library

share the folder or in your case drive containing the movies and then add the shared folder as a SMB source

then try and scrape and see what result you get.
