Win How to Stream Video from mapped Sharepoint Drive?
#1
I have a WD My Book Live Duo NAS attached to my router where I store my iTunes library, Videos (MP4's), and Pictures in the Public Share. WD provides secure personal cloud access to this NAS when you are away from home through their site Wd2go.com. This site uses Sharepoint to remotely access the NAS and maps a drive to the Public Share (N:). This is great for me since we go away a lot on weekends.

XBMC is installed on my laptop running Win 7 Home Premium x64. I have no problem playing my Music library or showing my Pictures in Slideshow from this mapped drive; however, I can't seem to get this to stream my Videos. The Video files show up when I go to Videos -> Shared Videos (I added this source by browsing the mapped drive). When I click on a video file there is a message saying "Working..." but nothing happens and after about 5 minutes XBMC locks up and stops responding. Is there some Add-On I need to download or some Service that needs to be enabled? I would appreciate any help pointing me in the right direction. This is my first time posting to this forum and I apologize if this is in the wrong place.

Thanks,
Nick

Welcome to the forum. Please read up on log files and how to provide them to us:

I enabled debugging in the gui and restarted xbmc to get a fresh startup in the log. I tried to play one of my videos (mp4) in my Shared Videos source pointing to my mapped drive. The same thing happens regardless of which video I try to play. It stops responding and then prompts to close the app. The url to my log file is http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=9607

Please take a look at my log and see if anything looks like the cause. I didn't see anything useful at the bottom of the log. FYI - when this drive is mapped from wd2go.com it looks as follows in Windows Explorer: Public (\\192.168.1.114\DavWWWRoot) (N:)

Maybe I should have said WebDAV in the title to this thread, but I believe Sharepoint uses the WebDAV protocol.

Thanks,
Nick

Well you should not need any add-ons ect to do this btw.

The log wasn't very helpful. Can you play video from that share in Windows or with VLC?
Do you have enough bandwidth?

I use webdav myself and i added it as https source, you could try that also.

Hi MassIV,

Thanks for the quick response. I've tried this with many others like WMP, VLC, QuickTime, RealPlayer, etc, but none of them can open my MP4 video files. I'm on Verizon FIOS and have a lot of bandwidth (35 Mbps Up & Down).

Do you have WebDAV directly on your NAS? With my Western Digital My Book Live Duo, when I'm away from home, I have to login to wd2go.com first, then it prompts for my NAS local account password when I click on the Public share to connect. I'm not sure how to do what you are showing above. Can you provide more details?
