Something I thought of for that fanless case. If there's no fan then why the vent on the top I wonder? It'd look nicer w/o it IMHO.

Looks great, but if they put the USB ports on the left hand side they could have saved probably a couple of inches
It's an overall theme of the case appearance, and they intend to keep the overall looks as clean as possible. The idea behind it is to have more aluminium alloys on the case cover to help dissipate the heat....

Most of the fanless cases have ventilations by the heat sources (CPU, GPU, etc) to help dissipate the trap hot air and allow cooler outside air to cycle thru it. Below are a few more fanless cases with ventilations....

Thanks for all the advice here - I think I'm going to make the jump and go for the AMD processor. Doesn't sound like there's a definitive winner so I'm just going to go for the newer processor Tongue. Either way, I think I'll be happy with it.

I'm going to work off of eskro's (thanks eskro!) A8-3850 build and swap out the mobo and processor. Just for a sanity check, how do the following parts look - I checked compatibility and all seems to be in order but just wanted to be doubly sure

Mobo: ASRock FM2A75M-DGS FM2
Processor: AMD A6-5400K Trinity 3.6GHz
Ram:G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ
PSU: Corsair CX430 Series CP-9020046-US 430W (I know, way more power than needed but grabbed a good deal - plus I figured it will be useful if I ever want to start adding components to the HTPC (tv tuner, additional HDD, blu-ray, etc...)
Case: SILVERSTONE ML03B μATX

Have an older SSD to use as a bootdrive. Media files will come from the NAS

Thanks all. Will report back on performance once I build if people here would like to see.

The motherboard you have chosen doesn't have an HDMI port, is that important to you. The PRO version does have HDMI.

David
HTPC1: Intel Pentium G620, 4GB RAM, AMD HD6570, Samsung 830 SSD, Silverstone GD05 case.
HTPC2: AMD Athlon II X2 255, 4GB RAM, AMD HD5450, Western Digital HDD, Silverstone ML03 case.
HTPC3: AMD E350, 4GB RAM, AMD HD6310, OCZ Agility 3 SSD, Akasa Crypto case.
Media Server: i3-3220, 8gb RAM, WHS 2011, 8tb capacity, Fractal Design ARC Midi R2 case.

I would think that he want to have it. It would defeat the purpose of having A6-5400K in there. This one "ASRock FM2A75M-DGS FM2" might be better for the A6-5400K.....

That's the same board I already mentioned.

Shoot - Good call man. I didn't even double check since I was expecting that HDMI is pretty much standard these days.... I'll have to upgrade to the Pro version. Thanks!
