im a user of xbmc for a long time now, but since i upgraded to windows 8 there is a font rendering issue in xbmc.

• XBMC Eden (v11.0) / Frodo Nightly 2012-11-02 (e292b11-master)
  
• System:
  • OS: Microsoft Windows 8 Professional with Media Center
    
  • DirectX: DirectX 11.0
    
  • CPU: [QuadCore] AMD Phenom II X4 945, 3000 MHz (15 x 200)
    
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H v1, AMD 780G, AMD K10
    
  • RAM: 4096 MB (DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM)
    
  • Grafic Card: AMD RADEON HD 6450 (512 MB, Caicos)
    Catalyst 12.11, DPI set to 150%
    
  • Sound Card: ATI Radeon HDMI @ AMD Caicos - High Definition Audio Controller

The font rendering is broken, some text is not shown at all, occasionally only some letters are missing. In Aeon MQ3 only the upper half of text is rendered.

not xbmc problem.
Your drivers are at fault here. update them to latest

All reported in this very forum (Windows support) since the beginning of last week, along with suggested workarounds/solutions:
Base Windows 7/XBMC Install, NO TEXT
All fields are blank (no text)
No writing in xbmc
Missing/broken TEXT in all menu items
cant see any word

Hello, can someone please help me, I used to use xbmc all the time but yesterday i tried it and it starts but cant see what what it writes there are just dots..... so i dont know what SYSTEM is or MOVIES or MUSIC nothing, today I formated c: installed win8 x64 pro downloaded latest xbmc first 11 than 12 and still the same what can possible be wrong? For better understanding please see below screanshoots!

It's a driver issue, I presume you're running an AMD card? run XBMC in compatibility mode for XP SP3 and it should work fine.

Try running XBMC in Windows XP (SP3) compatibility mode -- right click on program shortcut, go to properties, compatibility tab, check the box to run in compatibility mode, and choose win xp sp3 from the list, hit ok

Just the xbmc.exe as compatibility for XP SP3 and all will be fine.
