I think you have to have media in the drive for the icon to show up in the bottom left.

I did put media in the drive,i tried but no icon comes up or nothing.

if the icon does not appear then xbmc cannot play that disc.

But the disk plays in power dvd from the desktop and i've tried many different discs.

you're sure that you don't have any virtual disc(s) for mounting image files? Probably xbmc looks at the wrong disc drive. If you have only one cd/dvd-rom with one disc in it, it will work.

Thanks i forgot i installed magic disc a while ago and that was what it was as its working fine now. Thanks for the help.
