art missing with initial Music library scan with Frodo
#1
Hello,

I've upgraded to Frodo today, and went through the initial re-scan of my music library. Once completed, I only had fanart and album art for a portion of my library - the rest was blank. However, when switching out of Library view to File View, the art appeared. It did not appear when switching back to Library view. All of my media is on a NAS (Mediasmart server), and all of the music already contains album art within the ID3 tags. Every Artist folder has fanart in the correct naming format.

The debug log showed a lot of this:

Code:
13:08:23 T:888   DEBUG: CAnnouncementManager - Announcement: OnUpdate from xbmc
13:08:23 T:888   DEBUG: GOT ANNOUNCEMENT, type: 32, from xbmc, message OnUpdate

13:08:26 T:888   DEBUG: MUSIC_INFO::CMusicInfoScanner::DoScan Rescanning dir 'Y:\Soundgarden\Soundgarden - Louder than Love\' due to change

I'm not sure why it would 'skip' anything and then not show the art for it. I've since restored everything back to Eden from a backup and it works perfectly again. I could install Frodo again and re-try if more debug log info is needed.

1) Is this a known issue with Frodo? I did some searching, but didn't find anything exactly like this.
2) Is there a suggested way to transfer your Music art cache/library to Frodo, when you want to do no scraping (all album art already exists in ID3 tags)
3) Is there a suggested way to transfer your Movie/TV Show art cache/library to Frodo, when you want to do no scraping (all art/details already exists in file folders)
4) Is there any way to turn off scraping altogether if all of your media already has the info/art?

Thanks...

anyone know if this is a known issue, at least? I didn't find anything.

not having your 75% of your album art work after upgrading seems like a pretty big deal.

When you installed Frodo it asked you to rescan. In that case it doesn't skip anything at all. Your log is from a subsequent scan.

If you wish to redo the initial Frodo scan, delete the MyMusic32.db file in userdata/Database

Mine too... XBMC is a good software but has lot of issues... I prefer a Bug free XBMC instead of new XBMC versions...

is there any reason why the initial re-scan of Music would take an incredibly long amount of time?

i'm re-doing the initial scan (as instructed in this thread), and going by the log being created, it's only scanning about 5-7 Albums a minute. it'll take days at this rate.

2) Is there a suggested way to transfer your Music art cache/library to Frodo, when you want to do no scraping (all album art already exists in ID3 tags)

I'd like some clarification on this as well before I do my Frodo upgrade. Can you keep the music image library and will it stay intact if you then import the old music library after upgrade? I read the wiki, but it wasn't clear to me.

it seems like you have no choice but to re-scan.

why it's so painfully slow compared to library scans in Eden - i have no idea.

You have no choice with the Eden->Frodo update scan. There's no particular reason why it would be any slower than Eden - it's doing a pure tag scan, it's not hitting the scrapers at all.

I'm not sure why it would be slow, and can't seem to reproduce that behaviour (the actual code has changed very little from Eden). Further, the Debug Log messages suggest slowness elsewhere - all the OnRemove() stuff is fired in a (tight) loop, so the slowness suggests the listeners to the announcements are taking a long time to execute (on the same thread) which seems odd. You could try making sure you're not on the homepage while this is going on (as home attempts to update it's recently added stuff) and to also disable any services that might be running. If you figure out the issue, let us know.

Cheers,
Jonathan

edit: looks like it was the UPnP settings. once i shut those settings off, the speed picked up drastically.

another strange thing is that the initial library update when Frodo installs doesn't show up on the screen in XBMC itself. it always showed up at the top in Eden.
