XBMC force windows to restart
#1
Hello, finnaly I had time to build my own htpc.
But I have a problem with xbmc force windows to restart/crash.
Tried with frodo v12.0 first, but now I'm back at version 11.

The computer is newly build, and everything seems to be working good, until a few minuttes after I start xbmc.

Here is my log file:

Anyone here have any idea what could be wrong?

Just three things so far:

  1. Enable debug logging Wink
  2. The resolution set on your display doesn't seem to be correct: it says 1768x992 @ 30.00i which might mean that your Nvidia gfx does some kind of over- or underscan and/or your display is not set to FullPixel (or whatever it might be called on your monitor or tv...)
  3. What exactly does happen after the mentioned amount of time? Do you get a bluescreen? Does Windows simply restart?
Bye,
Fry

Ok, I will try to enable debug later today. Smile
The screen is a panasonic plasma tv.

It suddenly turns of and restarts the whole computer, and windows starts up windows repair, but doesn't seem to find anything to repair..

I was thinking it must be the computer hardware or windows problem, but if I close xbmc after startup I can use the computer for surfing and playing movies without any problems.
As soon as I start xbmc, it takes a couple of minutes, and the computer restarts..

Turn off Automatically Restart so you can see the error message on the BSOD.

Just a tiny question... Have you checked for heating issues? It could be related to CPU fan malfunction or the like...? Just to be sure and eliminate the hardware as being faulty.

You could pop the case open and try booting the HTPC, then check that fan(s) really are running.

Pretty sure it's something to do with the graphic card, even if it's new..

As Fry7 mentioned I would also recommend that you set your desktop resolution to a 1080P resolution to match your TV (unless you do not have a 1080P capable TV). Same goes for XBMC video settings.

Did you ever figure this out?

I have the same problem... same TV. Using HDMI.
Everything is fine. I start XBMC and the computer will automatically restart after a random amount of time (up to a few minutes)
BUT - if I can get a movie playing - it plays all the way through.
It is only when navigating around XBMC that it happens.
